is it just me who holds my bass really low (check my gallery) or do you guys do it too? it seems that all the other people have their bass guitars tied by their armpit hair :p

The problem with holding it low is that your wrists are under too much pressure. Maybe you're a tall person, and it suits, but it's not a very good idea. You can't move as fast, and might not be able to reach some things well enough to prevent fret buzz. Try it with the pickups kinda.. level with your belly button? *shrug* can't judge distance..

eh i hold mine kinda low, but that's only because i can't really play when it's higher. i feel more limited when my arms are stretched inwards instead of downwards.

well i can play it well enough. i don't really struggle with playing notes coz it it gets hard i kinda lift the head so that it's nearly like the bassist of korn holds it. i can play rammstein's "seemann" standing up and having the bass around my waist

You should really have it up higher. Years from now you won't even be able to play if you keep play with the bass so low. You don't have to have it up high like your dad would, just have it at a reasonable level. And yeah, it's just you and every other 'musician" our age.

ahh maybe, another thing is that the strap i use is really long, even now it's shortened. but i have no problems at all playing it like that, is it like some thing that's gonna tear my wrists when i'm 55?
