Hey guys, I just recently bought LSD for the first time and I have never tripped before. I was thinking about what music to listen to during the trip. I have mostly been told to listen to Shpongle or the Grateful Dead. However, I don't know much Grateful Dead and what I have heard I didn't like too much. Would it be better if I was tripping? Any songs that are good in particular?

Yes, the Dead are absolutely phenomenal. Also Animal Collective is absolutely amazing as well. Better than the dead in my opinion. Since people are so judgemental about their older music, give "Merriweather Post Pavilion" a listen to. Pure, psychedelic trippy pop at its finest. Give some of their music videos a watch as well, such as "Brothersport" or "Summertime Clothes". All trippy and fun times.

this is a great starter dead show. It is the dead in the middle of their career and they bring it. Very dancable and funky, psychedelic and mind blowing

dancing in the streets, scarlet>fire, estimated profit, st stephen, morning dew... all good stuff

Probably not, but who knows. Only one way to find out. The good thing is you don't need to choose, you can have both.
I personally prefer the Grateful Dead over Sphongle, but I'm bias because I prefer the Grateful Dead over every band.

I met my husband at a Grateful Dead show. We went to so many together! There was something so magical about Jerry's guitar meeting the acid headspace. Anyway, to get a sense (kinda) of what the sound was like, try this while dosed:

Pink Floyd-Dark side of the moon.

My first tripping album :D was amazing. Try giving Railroad Earth a listen, something about them always gets me in the mood to go on a journey..

I mean everything mentioned is good but I enjoy listening to whole Dead shows while on a trip. I'll find a really epic show and make a mental event out of it, and get in the whole experience of the music in it's entirety and feel the energy circulating that night. It's awesome to get a decent bit of banter in there. My favorite show I tripped to was I think 79 in some Arena, not sure what even was on the Setlist, I know the Wheel for sure, and the final encore was Alabama Getaway, which is so sick.

I listened to a lot of Umphrey's shows when I tripped. Don't think ever a whole show of Phish but good chunks, Phish is amazing while dosed, such a mind fuck. Yea just Dead and Umph I do that with though.
