How could we?!! The WW2 Aussie garrison at Tobruk and the Australian people will be eternally grateful to the Jews, George, and Rock for turning the German tide there and saving them from military embarassment - yet again. (SIGH!) If only Australia had a Hollywood. We too would then have the most feared, ferocious, and the absolute bravest troops the world has ever seen!
My favourite war movie of all time is saving private ryan. The movies battle scenes create the feeling like you are there, living it all through. Also, almost all of the main actors went through a basic military training.
If you enjoy war movies try this one It's called "Tae Guk Gi : The Brotherhood of War" It's about two brothers who are forced to fight in the Korean war , On OPPOSITE sides ! this film is not for the squeamish, if you thought saving private ryan was graphic, you ain't seen nothin' yet ! the most harrowing battle scenes ever filmed IMO
Every one mentioned so far I like, but some others are: The Hurt Locker We Were Soldiers Braveheart Torpedo Run To Hell and Back 84 Charlie Mopic Midway Gallipoli
Yes buddy.. I luckily have THE GREAT ESCAPE in its original analogue master and its Georgeous!! (Its on 2 tapes (I dunno if they could have fit that whole movie onto one tape.... Maybe with a T-180 (That movie is 172 Mins))) ONE OF MY FAVOURITES!!!!! (Pappilon comes in #2)
My favorite world war 1 movies are: Red Baron Beneath hill 60 My favorite world war 2 movies are: Bridge too far Band of Brothers
I saw it...I found it pretty forgettable. I liked the "It ain't no thing" part, though, and when the dude later fell into that pit full of spikes. Catch-22 is a pretty good one.
Just a couple Bogie movies that got left out; Action in the North Atlantic...about the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII. It may be the only war movie about them, a 1943 propaganda movie. They suffered a higher attrition rate than any service in WWII, including the Marines, so they deserve at least one movie. The African Queen...Bogie and Hepburn on a mission to sink a German ship; John Huston directing. Sahara...Bogie retreats across the desert in his M3 tank.
Trini Lopez, who was in DIRTY DOZEN, died recently at age 83 from the corona virus. He was primarily a singer not an actor, so it's curious that he was chosen to be in that movie, or any movie.
Fury was pretty amazing... more because of the Tiger tank scene... it showed the truth of what it was like facing those beasts n the balls our guys had to drive soda cans into em.... Enemy At The Gates.... the sniper battle in Stalingrad n the movie was based off a book n the book was based off the snipers journals.... the German sniper was a terrifying man in real life... the shit he did while toying with the Russians was soul crushing to the guys facing him... there are things not in the movie that are pure nightmare and the skill he had was unreal
