    Read what you're saying.

If it will do it anyway, why would you fuck things up with backcombing? You seem to be advocating both, to make the backcombing seem more acceptable by association.

Why did I backcomb? I thought I was helping my hair along the way and I wanted to be more involved in the process. Honestly, if I knew what I knew about it now I wouldn't have backcombed to begin with. But i'm not going to brush it all out and start again. Some will be englect and others not. That's fine and dandy with me in the end it's just hair why the hell you care so much what I do with my hair is a mystery to me.

^ Your the one making entire threads about your hair and how you are just failing at trying to get insta dreads.

I do not think someone who is so obsessive about their own head would be able to grow REAL dreadlocks. Its all about letting go.

They aren't failing, how can you fail? The back just isn't as progressed as the front.... im not obsessed because I made a thread so I can show others progress. I don't do anything to them.

Thinking he's talking about lack of progress is very much the insta-dread way.:bobby:

not lack of progress, you got some goin already. I just cant see why people cant just be a little patient and wait an extra month or so for dreads to form naturally. They truely just look great because they form to the shape of your head, so it will always look good and natural. And DO NOT think your hair is too soft or straight or anything to lock up naturally. I have like super baby soft ultra straight thin hair and its locking up fine.

to be honest though, wf's hair is really short so aesthetically there probably won't end up being any difference to what they'd have been like through neglect. as for the "moral" debate of backcomb V neglect, as far as i'm concerned hair is hair. if you can get anything out of the process of dreadlocks good for you, whatever method. if not then good for you.

If it makes you feel any better about the situation i'm in I wish I had let them do it the neglect way. But like the poster above me has said, my hair is really short, and there wont be much difference. Alot of it will be neglect because it was too short to even form a shape in the back from the comb. So it's just doing its own thing au natural. The top and the sides are different they're knotting up more so. Why people differentiate backcombers from neglect so hard I have no idea, the majority of it falls out anyways (especially if your hair is short) and you have to go the neglect route anywhooo.

All this backcomb or don't backcomb talk isn't why I stopped by. I just stopped by because I think you're really hot, and quite intelligent too, wildflower.

Now I'll go ahead and wish you luck in growing out those dreads. :2thumbsup:

My shit was shorter than yours when I started. Theres just no use worrying about them and forcing them in a certain directinon.

I know, I don't anymore. If anything this whole thing is teaching me how to be more patient.

Good. The only reason I bash other methods is because neglect is a journey, and its a great thing that has brought me much happiness, and has taught me alot. I only wish this to others.
