What would that help? I'm not trying to be funny, I'm genuinely curious.

What I mean by "successfully" meditating means that afterwards, I feel like one with everything around me and I have strong self-discipline.

Hopefully, it would keep your mind off of having sex with yourself while you are meditating.

That's highly unlikely to happen without a few years of working on your self. You already are one with everything. Erasing the programming that is telling you differently is likely going to take some time. PSTEC may be a good tool for you to use to help get you there.

Meditation sometimes causes us to experience our true nature for varying lengths of time. A good thing to be aware of is that these experiences can be few and far between during a program of daily meditation over the course of a few years. It greatly depends on the individual and where they are along their path. Chasing these experiences, by all accounts, should not be the goal of meditation. Gaining control of your mind/thoughts and the calming/centering effect on your physical being eventually leading to the experience of self realization I believe are more beneficial goals to pursue, if you are the type to set goals. I look at the short lived glimpses along the way as signs that I'm on the right path, rather than as something I should desire or pursue. Of course, what you do is entirely up to you. I prefer to focus on the end result and take the joys and pains along the way as superfluous.

I am certainly no expert by any means, but my studies on the subject lead me to strongly believe that meditation alone is probably not sufficient to become enlightened. Besides becoming more aware of the true nature of things & finding the observer within, we need to also undo a lot of programming in many cases. There are various methods designed to do this and I would highly recommend educating yourself about them, then picking one or more to help move things along.

I don't need to change in any other way than gaining self-discipline. Everything else is perfect.

Would you say that meditation helps one get to know themselves even better? I have a feeling you're going to say "yes," but I more or less just wanted your opinion. I think that's basically part of your message above.

I can definitely tell that I've become a lot more calm in my demeanor since I've began meditating, I've also developed the ability to prevent external stimuli from affecting my mood the way I used to in the past.

You are correct, yes is the answer, but it isn't usually as clear to us as it could/should be. In reality, the self is an illusion. We are all just part of the same one thing which comprises all that exists. The separation that we experience here is what stands between us and our true nature. The more we try to gratify the self, the more we buy into the illusion. As we let the illusion go and begin to discover our true nature, the byproducts you listed begin to manifest themselves. We begin to relax because we start to realize that there is nothing to fear. We don't react because we learn it is better to face each situation as an opportunity to shed our programming and choose how to act at any given moment. Time is an illusion also. All we really have is now. Meditation helps us slow down and live in the moment. It also affects those around us, which is part of the beauty of the whole thing. As we raise our individual vibration, so does it raise the vibration of those we interact with. The opposite is true as well. You can see it for yourself in your daily interactions with others. When we finally get to the point where we realize it is better to spend our time gratifying/serving others and start doing it, we can really start to experience our true nature, which is joy and love.

So...the way to meditate is not to seek that state or try not to think, but rather, relax as much as possible, but don't make a big deal about it. Right?

Oh...shit...I meditated for 20 minutes or something like that and I feel as if my body doesn't exist, which gets me dizzy. It's good though, I think that feeling of separation isn't necessary in academic success, therefore, energy will be used on other areas of the brain.

Meditation gets more fun and easier as you do it more.

I think you need to try harder, search any info about meditation, in religion or Science. And use some asistant as well: like wormwood(Mugwort Artemisia vulgaris) or Germany Chamomile essential oil. They can banish negative energy around you.

This is something I've had a few friendly debates about in my day... Is it really possible to undo programming, or is it more accurate to say that you can introduce new programming, which afterwhile re-programs you?

What I'm saying is, is it really possible to completely overwrite what was originally programmed, or does it just get diminished, if you will by the repetition of the new program?

You make a good point, a lot of the programming that we have received does need reprogramming. However, there is a more subtle type of programming that some of us may be unaware of that can be undone by an "aha" moment. We carry around a lot of misbeliefs and misconstrued memories that affect our daily life. We act on these misconceptions subconsciously and consciously.

As an example, I used to carry around a lot of anger and resentment towards my adoptive parents as I felt that the way they treated me was wrong. I could give you all kinds of examples of my mistreatment at their hands. By confronting the question, "What did your parents do that was wrong?", I was able to blow most of that away in one moment of euphoric bliss when I came to the realization that they did nothing wrong. We all have this kind of stuff that makes up who we are and how we act in certain situations. There's a bunch of it that can be wiped out by a simple shift in perception or rise in awareness.
