Does anyone have any ideas on what Charles Clarke might do about it all? Not a great deal is my best bet I think. Pick it up and shuffle along with it. But he of all people must know £3 billion could be better spent on our schools.

Will he have any choice in that matter at all do you know?

Its great that people are a bit worked up about this... i heard their was trouble when a Mr Plunckett MP brought the law on registering births a couple of hundred years ago (i am a bit sketchy on the facts).. its weirdly true.. people brought up the same type of civil liberty arguements back then as now .. this again is a good thing i suppose. i personaly don't have a problem with I.d cards because well its not the end of the world as history shows.. The author of 1984 was not even born for his book to throw at or use in a serious debate on civil liberties either :p .
