Facebook is pure over-hyped shit.

My last girlfriend has over 900 friends and she still calls me every week-end to see what I'm doing.

My younger bother has told me he has 200 friends. And I can not get rid of him. He is always at my place looking for something to do.

I believe that virtual communities and friends are like vitural sex. Regardless of photos or webcams, it's just you all alone in front of your computer.


I do not have a facebook account. And I'm always going out and doing something. I only use the Internet for my ebay auctions and while I'm waiting for them to finish, I log into this site. But personally, I don't care about any of you. Afterall, I'm probably never going to meet any of you in real life.

delete aways it will do you no good. it will be there til the mainframe crashes, and then some/ unless the truck loaded with backup data tapes is detroyed the moment FB mainframe burns up...

There is no chance in hell anything you post there, here or anywhere on the WWW will ever disappear 100%..

My apologies for any thread commandeering, Facebook has its uses. I know people with bands who post their gigs. I heard you can meet chicks on there too. imp:There are pictures of me other people put up all the time but I'm totally not getting an account anytime soon.

If you're making such a big deal out of facebook you probably should delete it. I dont think a social networking site should be something that causes grief or anger or low self esteem. Its meant to be harmless fun. If it becomes more, you probably should not have one.

 

As being another humanbeing on this planet with a right to life and dignity. Not a problem, I care about that.

But when it comes to me lending you money. Sorry, you're on your own.

I care about everyone in the "big sense". But on the small scale fow what someone does personally in their lives.. I do not give a "fuck".

And really...
Think about this logically.

You can say you care about people on the Internet all day long.
You can have a million friends on facebook and myspace
You can part of all kinds of online communities.
You can make online petition with a trillion signatures.
You can even have an online protest against war in an IRC chat channel.

But none of it is real.

My suggestion is not to get rid of it entirely but go through and delete any friends you don't know in real life or have no desire to keep in touch with in either the short or long term. Also get rid of any stupid games or other apps. like farmville, mafia wars etc. you might have that are a waste of time.

It can be an addiction like you say, but if you use it responsibly I think it is great for keeping in touch with friends and family. You won't have time to call all of the people who are important to you in your life on a regular basis and Facebook gives you a quick news feed and pictures of events going on in the lives of people you care about but wouldn't other wise be taking the time to communicate with. It helps me feel like people are not lost to me.

 

yeah, i'm with you on this one. aside from facebook, this is the only internet community i'm part of. The only people on my facebook are people I know in real life and actually do care about. As far as you guys, i respect your opinions, i like how some of you challenge my mind, sometimes you guys make me laugh, and I would probably would be friends with a lot of you if I knew you in real life...but I don't, and all you are is a screen name to me, so i really dont care about any of you.

I dont mean to insult anyone, but its never made sense to me how some people can become such good internet friends or even fall in love on the internet. I think a huge part of human interaction comes from not what is said, but what is truly meant, which can be discernable through body language, eye contact, a certain energy that comes from a good or bad soul, etc etc. you don't get a true sense of any of that in cyberspace.

 

I once tried having an Internet relationship.
But my laptop would over heated when I tried to snuggle with it under the blankets in my bed.

Vitural friends are not real friends. And if you think you're making "real friends" on the Internet.
Then you really need a real doctor to examine your head.

Everyone get out and get a life !!!! The net should never be more than a hobby when you have nothing better to do at all.
