Recently, things have been very strange for me. I do not do a wild amount of drugs and have very little experience with psychedelics aside from Salvia. So I dont think that plays a role in any of this. Having said that I'll move on to the actual issue. I wake up in the morning and do the exact same thing (eat, shower, get dressed, go to school). For the first hour or so I am extremely tired and find myself falling into an extremely loose sleep containing lucid dreams. Sometimes I can hardly keep my eyes open. This is not always because I am tired but I seem to just have a sensitivity to light or something. For about the next two hours prior to this I feel fine. Well rested, relatively alert ect. Then, once again, I can hardly keep my eyes open. I cannot think clearly and things just start to feel very strange. After an hour or two I go back to feeling pretty fine. Until night. Regardless of how tired I am I will lay in bed doing nothing and stay awake for hours. I wondered if humans could be nocturnal but I never really looked in to it. Anyone know anything bout that? Being a student it is extremely hard to pass classes when I cannot mentally be in them. I have no idea what causes me to be this way, not even a hunch, so any help is really appreciated.

    Thanks

I tend to be a night person too, and it makes life in the real world difficult. There have been actual studies done that show that there really are "night people" and "morning people," with differing biological rhythms. You sound like an extreme example of a night person.

I use coffee to get through my life. The first thing I do every morning is make coffee, then take a giant cup of it back to bed with me and sip it for half an hour until my eyes stay open. I usually have another cup after lunch, cuz otherwise the food in my stomach makes my eyelids heavy.

I also have a giant box fan on my bed next to my head, and I turn it on every night to help lull me to sleep.

I wish I'd known in college what I know now - I probably would have made it to a lot more of my early morning classes. ;)

I considered using caffiene or other similar things but its not the healthiest alternative and I don't want to crash half way through my day either! Thank you though. Nice to hear someone else feels my pain haha.

Coffee has gotten a bad rap in the past, but more recent studies are showing that coffee is actually beneficial for the most part - as long as you don't overdo it. But you need to do what seems best for you, of course - just thought you might want to be aware of this. I hope you find something that works for you. :)

Hello I did not read your entire post but I saw mentioned being a person who has hard time sleeping at night, and would rather sleep in the day.
I must tell you it is un-natural and un-healthy to do this. I used to do the same thing you do, but I'm telling you sincerely that it's going to (if it doesn't already) have a negative effect on your mental and physical states.
It has for me, so I speak from my experience.
Try to sleep from 10pm to 6-8 am.

Just curious, what negative effects mentally/physically took place?

    Thanks.

i to recently have had problems similar to you. as Telepath said, it is very unhealthy, you may feel better from time to time but you do need to get your sleep back to normal. it effects you in very freaky and unusual ways. caffeine is not a good answer, it makes you feel good for a bit but then you crash and feel worse than you did. you may say just have another one, but your just adding up the crash at the end.

if you go to bed thinking your not going to sleep, there is no point going to bed. i know is a bit of an advert but i got so annoyed with my sleep problem i bought Paul McKenna's book, I can make you sleep. it lists a the a good amount of tasks to follow to knock your sleep pattern back. most people who think they are insomniacs have just unbalanced there sleep pattern. with a positive look towards this it can easily be done!

I've been drinking coffee since I was 18 - almost 40 years now - and it doesn't make me feel worse after it wears off. This is simply not true.

It could certainly be true that somebody's sleep pattern might be off. However it's also scientifically documented that there really are "night people" and "morning people" with differing biological rhythms. This isn't just made-up stuff.

Just to make sure we have our facts straight...

But certainly it's worth giving Paul McKenna's book a try - maybe that's really the problem in this case. You don't know until you try it.
