With US Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Xmas on the way, we the veg*ans of the forums, get to hash out the perennial question: what do we serve as a centerpiece on the food holidays? Post your potential menus, opinions on the center of the table options, et cetera. Personally, I use Joanne Stepaniak's Oven Roasted Tom Tofu. (Vegan Vittles) This year, I'm folding into a new partner's family traditions, so I don't know if I'll be making a thing... or simply fending off the you are a what?? comments.
ooh! ooh! i will definitely be posting in this thread when i get to a real computer and not my kindle. i have some awesome fail safe recipes i use every year and i always try a few new ones too. i look forward to this time for cooking and baking all year. i probably enjoy the food making more than the actual holidays.. with a shitty retail schedule it's really the only holiday activity i have time for. i'm working a double on thanksgiving day (time and a half $$$) but have off black friday from my morning job at least so hopefully i can convince my family to have a lil day after veggie feast with me...
Looking forward to it, SweetB! Keith: I should bring that just as a statement...but I'm not a long enough term partner to get away with it. Squawkers: yes. New partner. My divorce went through in April 2010, once I could afford to file. It was amicable, although we are in the not talk for several months part of getting beyond the breakup. I need to update my profile. I'm not in Colo anymore. I do hope to return. New partner is not veggie. one sister is, most of the time (capitulating pescatarian)
Tofurkey is something I more than like. And definitely look forward to. I've eaten it almost every thanksgiving for the last 8 years.
Same as wonka, tofurkey all the way! Or vegan shepards pie, it's so homey and filling and I can get the majority of my family to try the pie. It's a lot harder to get my family to try the tofurkey. Also my older brother makes a veggy lasangna with thinnly slice eggplant instead of noodles for a lower calorie meal.
