Why is the Methadone not working?

For starters Im male, 130lbs, 19. Also Ive NEVER taken methadone.
Usually I just line myself up some perc or hydro and rail them. Usually around 20-30mgs per day. Not much compared to a lot of people on here but Im trying to keep my tolerance low... Well as usual 30mg is not having the same effect as it did. Since Im out of perc and only had one 5mg hydro I decided to look into something else.
My friend gave me a square pill that I thought was Zyrtec cause of the shape, them I looked it up and it was a 10mg methadone.
I did some research and popped it on a completely empty stomach. Havent ate for 5 or 6 hours... anyways, I felt the pill begin to take effect in about 20 minuets which is relatively fast and it was an awesome opiate/per euphoria. But now here I am, Its been about an hour and 1/2 since dosing and I feel like the euphoria is gone and Im only left with a slight headache and maybe a minor high... whats up with that!! I know the half life is 24-36 hours which is really long and can be very dangerous. But ive read sooo many conflicting answers. Some say start with 10mg, then I heard of people in MMPs (methadone maintenance program?) taking up to 200mgs!!! Obviously I realize these people are previous heroin/etc addicts.
What is going on with me? Is this a typical first time methadone 'high'? I dont know how the peak of this drug could be 4 hours into a dose when I dont even feel it after 1 1/2 hrs! I dont want to be stupid and take pills in combination. Anyone have an answer for me?

If thats the only one you have then i would call it a day. maybe next time you get more you can try taking 2. Methadone isnt supposed to be too euphoric for me it makes me nod out real hard and besides that all i get is respiratory depression. I think what your expecting is an oxy high, your not gonna get that with methadone. Your right about methadone be dangerous because of the long half life. I think you and i have a similar tolerance, that being said take my dosing scale with a grain of salt.

First off i like to acquire 20 10mg methadone and start off my binge like this; I start off with 2 methadone and then re-dose with another 2 in 4 hours, ill do this until i run out and then i take 1-2 weeks off. In no way i suggest you do this, but you might try and take an extra one, it wont hurt. Dont combine anything and you should be fine. BTW i read your other post about dosing other opiates after methadone. To be safe i usually wait a week to get a full effect.

EDIT: Like orison said it takes a little longer than most, 2 hours. Just forget you took it and wait for the lovely warm surprise.

 

i took a 10mg once and it took a few hours to kick in, then when it did I was high as all fuck.. I have an average tolerance , I can do opiates and put them down.... I just did 160mg of Oxycontin the other day. Thurs into Friday, today I suffer no withdraws ..

 

Well here I am, Its been over 12 hours since my initial dosing. I took all of the advice from you wonderful people (thank you very much btw) and Im not going to lie I did feel a buzz that continued and came back and went throughout the night.

It was so odd though how Methadone works, at least on me. Initially it hit me like a ton of bricks, it was great. Then the euphoria feeling drastically decreased and left me feeling like i had a light headache. After reading the advice on here I did just what was prescribed.

I popped some Skins into the DVD player and drifted into a wonderful peaceful place. The high was very subtle and there wasnt much of a nod but it was VERY peaceful. It did remind me of H, how it made me feel warm and fuzzy.
Its now the next day, obviously over 12hrs and I still feel... something. I dont know what it is, maybe its from the meth tab or not, but all in all it was a good time. I dont foresee myself every doing it again. I love that the effects last so long, but the half life of the pill is so great it takes too long until you can do normal opiates again safely. StonedAge mentioned that a week was a good estimate until normality can resume. That is far too long, that means for a full week I cant take ANY pills, drink, nothing.

Can I drop some shrooms or will the half life negatively effect those too? I have another 10mg methadone tab but I hate to drop it simply because all that will do is add another day onto the week...

 

I meant 1 week until its fully out of your system and opiates fully work (tolerance). Id wait 24 hours to drink as both methadone and alcohol are respiratory depressants. I was only saying wait a week so you could fully feel the effects of other opiates. If you wanted take any other opiate within the first couple of days after the effects might be diminished.

 

Dude, try and chill out a little with doing pills and drinking. They are good in moderation with semi-occasional binges

To get a somewhat better and more knowledgeable answer you could re-post this in the mushroom forums? IDK. Anyway; You could take the mushrooms if you wanted to, just wait a couple of days, maybe even 5-6 days.

As with the methadone tab you have left. If you feel like that kinda high again, pop that shit, and have fun. If your not feeling it, dont take it, keep it around for another time.

The 'week' thing and the half life doesnt exactly work the way you are describing it, listen to StonedAged.^^^^^

 

Oooh okay. Well thank you guys for all of your advice. I am in full admittance that I dont know as much about pills as many of the posters on here. But I actually trying to learn and am making some progress.
Thanks for elaborating more on how the half life works. Im still not quite sure I get it. But anyways, I wasn't sure if it meant that the pill would be... how do I put this, still influencing my bodies reaction to other meds? I know both methadone and opiates/opiods (dont know the difference really) largely effect the CYP450 enzyme. I wasnt sure if waiting a week was a precautionary so I wouldnt be mixing methadone and opiates thus causing CNS depression or death. Or if it was until the pills blockers were broken down.

But if I remember correctly... Methadone doesnt contain anything that blocks opiates. In fact I heard and read on a pretty official methadone site that opiates were potentiated by Meth and that is why OD is so common on this drug. I heard it was Suboxone or Subutex that contained the opiate/opiod blockers...
