Im a male, 130lb, very slender, not fat, I work out and keep myself pretty toned, and heart healthy. Im gonna guess my metabolism is pretty fast, even though I only eat a vegan diet, I still stay pretty slim. I drink a lot of water too?? Dont think that matters whatsoever though. Anyways, Im dosing on only 10mgs because Im a first time methadone user and even though my tolerance for opiate/opiods is well above 30mgs I want to do it smart. I know that methadone has a super long half life, something life 24-36 hrs, so even if the effects wear off that doesnt mean 're dose'. But how long will it effect make my tolerance to other opiods/opiates
Methadone contains no opiates, so I don't know why it would affect your tolerance to opiates one way or the other.
I was under the impression that methadone was a synthetic opiate, and that it did affect tolerance. That's why it works for people who are trying to quit "real" opiates. Then again my knowledge of opiates is very limited, and my experience is limited to the one time I smoked opium.
I'm pretty sure I'm right about methadone not being a derivative of opium, as far as anything else about methadone you're right I don't know what I'm talking about. That statement I made about it affecting your tolerance is potentially dangerous and should be ignored.
Methadone is DEFINITELY a synthetic opiate. It's hard to say just how exactly Methadone will effect your tolerance... but believe me, it will. I took Methadone for a year and a half (it was total hell), If I take a 30mg oxycodone now I can barely feel it. The highest dose I was on during my Methadone treatment was 65 mgs.
I take Toradol too, this is not a narcotic , but it blocks the actions of opiates some days later... Toradol can not be taken all the time.. only a few days. Methadone is usually taken constantly...
Yes, I understand it's a synthetic opiate...but it's not a true opiate in the sense that the opium poppy is not used at any point in the manufacturing process of methadone, thus it's not a derivative of opium.
