So I just whipped up some cannabutter and put it in a glass jar and let it harden. Going into my room I tripped on some boxes my asshole brother left there and it fell out of my pocket and the jar broke but held its shape. I took out the cannabutter and put it in tupperware but was worried about small pieces of glass so I strained it through some cloth. However when I was done the butter no longer has the dark sand like gritty stuff on the bottom which I was under the assumption was the strongest part, the part that gets you high, now its just clear and green.

    Is it ruined?

why didnt you just warm it up in a bowl and then re jar it...the glass would stayed in the bottom of the bowl

is that shit in the bottom of the jar the good stuff? Ive never done this before. Its rather green which is good but its clear now, nothing floating around the bottom really. I was under the impression that sandy gritty stuff was hash.

I know what hash is. So the "active" parts of the bud totally absorb into the butter? or is there a residue that would be desired is what I want to know.

The green shit, and pretty much any other solid or residue is not the good stuff. Its in the butter.

What Willy said. The green stuff is just the left over plant matter. The trichomes will adhear to the fat of the butter. That is what is imortant.

apparently you don't. like Startreken pointed out, the gritty, green-looking stuff is just leftover plant matter. you butter sounds like it's fine, just strained through once more get more of the impurities out. you now have a better butter (hopefullly with no glass).

A lil help from a cook. If you guys watch food network or the cooking channel you've probably seen them "infusing" butter with garlic...or infusing mint into a simple syrup to make iced tea...thats what making bud butter is.

    easy peasy!

    ..mmmm peas....
