we have our ways and as time gets along they can be seen as ours in harmony . . one late-afternoon i was lolly about the meadow just ambling toward the home bliss pit when i come upon a brother sitting alone on a blanket . he says to me that i'm invited to his wedding . when and where , bro ? right here in 10 minutes . ok , say i ... mmm . i'll be back . but he sigh worried like that'd not happen . where you going ? my tent is atop and o'er that little rise ... and i'm going to get my flute . when i return itsa just beginning and i join a group of ancient old rainbow men and one quiet young woman . some make poetry blessings . i'm asked to play a solo and i do it easy and new unto two . they kiss .
and when i die ? sigh , let these bones lay deep in the holler it's ok , i can walk that far having measured my time exactly well
I was married by Andrew during the 1996 National in Missouri. We have parted (which is why I don't list him) but the times were good. we we one of at least two weddings that night. as we slowly walked to our tent, kiddo in tow, my former partner looked up and said "wow!" I looked up and the ridge was covered with fireflies, twinkling like an earthbound galaxy.
Drumminmama ... I too was at that said family gathering that year. I didn't make it to weddings that day...but the one sister (bride) invited us (could that of been you)? We were parked up in Bus village coming in the main gate way pass A-camp an towards back off main trail on left. We were in a (Econoline maroon colored van)...my partner was a very large bearded man...even seen in broom skirt at times an served pancakes a few times...hehe We carried water a lot down to main circle. Hung out around 'Morningstar's kitchen. We came in later to help with kitchen from Bloomington IN ...called 'Ship of Love' or 'Fools' (I think was name ) LOL ...But, we kinda all around. Too much to really tell at the moment... but not til we had left... did it sink in what I had experienced...not to mention all the people that I had hoped to meet...and I did... but... didn't know who they were (with the exception of a few) until long after the gathering. Many blessings I witnessed there. ~Hugs~
Those fireflies in MO '96 were something else, weren't they? And since it was so dang hot and humid during the day, I remember that Gathering as being more nocturnal than usual, so everybody was up with the fireflies.
i visited that site around the time of the ArkansasGathering - o'lordy - there's a Rainbow Memorial set at the entrance . it's quite the honored thingy ... a pearly toilet seat wired atop an ancient steel garbage can of foreverness . hey , it sported a peace sign ... which endures
a funeral ashes ashes shared among friends i smear a pinchy upon my forehead later , there be-comes a puppet made of forest sticks and dressed as a man , its puppet head is a plastic tiny Indian chief it sits it sits another day awaiting he will follow the children into the great meadow followed himself by a buffalo drum and is received unto a little fire at our center as all the drums rage in joy welcome home again and again
