AAAAAAHHHH!!! is everyone going to nelson? has it been "discovered?" nelson's cheap. don't tell anyone.
yeah, nelson's cheap, but there arent any jobs there unless you're at least a third generation valley dweller. bleh.
i lived there for awhile, i found the rent was high... $400 for a cabin (in lemon creek) and food was a bit more expensive than the cities, but not much. but getting a job there is mucho difficult...
yeah, grow ops are the biggest employer in nelson. without pot it'd be a ghost town, and everyone knows it.
Foods free. Rents high. Nelson was discovered a long time ago silly. Can`t you tell by the huge numbers of people that pass thru. Very transient place really. Its magic. You can feel it.
Well i used to live there for 6 years. my dad lives there now so i vist about 5 times year... its really not too bad, though if you are looking to buy a house its very expensive, they just happen to rate it 3rd best city to live in, in Canada. Or North America... I forget witch one... so more people seem to be attracted to this wonderful place.. which has many low points to it... but pretty much no jobs... 75% of the town is involved with pot one way or another... Weather it's Cultivating, trafficing, trimming, maintaining and helping others crops.. and everything in between.. soooooooo hmmmmmmm
Man, ANOTHER Nelson post. Its great people, but not all its cracked up to be. I live pretty close to Nelson in the interior of BC and its great to visit although I personally think the rent(forget about buying a house) is high in comparison to the virtually non-existent job market. And yes, weed is the one leg that the economy of the town stands on, a lot being shipped across the border as when local supply is high, local demand is rather low. Of course not a bad biz to be in there, if you can hook up with kind, not greedy people. I wanted to move to Nelson at one point but did a lot of visiting, checking up on rent prices, local job market and talking to people who had lived/live there and came to the conclusion that Nelson is sometimes just too "cool" for its own good. People go there having expectations of happy hippie-wonderland but when it comes down to it, when you don't have a job or can't afford a place or have any food it doesn't seem so cool anymore. Be careful to not look through rose-colored glasses. Plus side? Lots of transient folks that make it an ever-changing environment with good energy and a great place to meet people. But staying for awhile and making a go for awhile of it is unfortunately harder than one would think.
