I dont have nough time on this computer to go through all the comments. but I am definatly willing to give some of my physical strength for this cause. My name is Jaren and i am a traveller. i actualy just came up california and all that to bc. Next spring i will be going overseas to experiance new things and till then im just making money. but anytime you need help and im in north america i would love to go help out. But you should definatly go for it! follow this amazing dream of yours. Ive always wanted to survive in a commune but then got this little travel bug and now just want to exeriance the earth. so anytime you need help let me know and i wil be there. I give you my word.
Ok, back online finally, freaking hotel I spent last week at didn't have wifi. But we found a house in a northwest burb of denver and I'm ironing out bugs in this laptop. Things are just nutty and the next few days are going to involve showing a semi-pc literate roomate how to set up RSS feeds for craigslist mining but I'll be around at least, I was nearing the point of hitting the Library but it's like a 3 hour wait to get a PC.
guys, i really like your ideas. i lived with the twelve tribes communities for a period of about 3 months as a guest. i was never fully inducted into their community because that requires a lifelong commitment which i was not ready to make, due to certain spiritual and ideological differences. but during the course of my journeys there i really was awakened to the essential nature of human kind. i can't stand living the way that i do now working a job and living by myself. after having experienced communal life, it appears that there is no turning back. everyone is so compartmentalised and subject to the system out here in society. i just can't stand it. humans aren't meant to live like that. i have a dream of one day starting my own community, or joining one that has similar ideals to what i believe. i too, wish to create a community that can bring a positive force into society and help people. to be able to stand up against the tyranny that oppresses the human spirit that runs rampant through america. to create something that is real in a world of illusion. a place where true love and true freedom can exist. right now i'm just squeezing my way by in georgia, waiting for opportunities and people and i guess eventually i am going to save up some money for my cause. if this sounds along your guys' lines of thought, we most definitely need to get in touch. i would be willing to dedicate alot of time and effort to building a community.
but have not given up... we almost had launch, but the rocket blew up on the pad... trying to rebuild... depending on luck, could be a month or a year... in florida, trying to scrape some pieces together.. will respond as progress is made... peace, john
brought tears to my eyes. almost as if ive said that exact thing before, but not as well put. I have also returned to society after experiencing complete freedom to make some money. And after all my travels I plan to settle down and help build up a commune with people who share simmilar views. and in between my current travels i would be more then willing to help out on communes. Planning on making my way down there in th spring. would be happy to help out with what i can while im there. and will also be selling whatever vehicle i have at the time in florida as well.
ive been looking for a place like this, even if i'd travel overseas id be fine with it. but what is the weather like year round in this place?
My name is Virginia, and my husband's name is Kevin. We have been preparing to move off-the-grid for some time now and are looking to actually move away from the city (Phoenix, AZ) this spring. We have a travel-trailer, which will be our home, and over a years worth of food, nearly everything to start a communal garden, wood burning stove, and much more. We are prepared to live on our own, but would prefer to be part of a community. We are a middle aged couple, honest, sincere, open-minded, and hard working and only ask that others are the same. There are a number of gold mines in Arizona, and while most believe that living is too difficult here in Arizona, there are many areas that are do-able if you understand what is needed. We would prefer to stay in Arizona, but above 5000 ft in elevation, as we have family that live here but are not ready mentally to move off-the-grid. If you want to contact us: 5250 East Duncan Street Mesa, Arizona 85205 480.619.0868 Thanks for reading and considering us for your community.
this is da bus... a 1984 diesel International shorty school bus... has 189 K miles on it.. has good tires, fresh oil filters & coolant.. trailer hitch & dig this: Vegetable Oil Fuel System !!! other goodies, too... new injection pump, alpine stereo, & a vegoil recovery pump, for pulling up on site & filling the pre-filtration tank. the interior is stripped, for the time being... putting in fold out bunks, wood interior, shower & toilet, stove, fridge, shelving, insulation & may even try a small wood stove, depending on what kind of design specs i find for one that's small enough... additional storage space will go on top.. it has about 90 gallons of fuel storage.. that's maybe 900 miles between fillups, but i'm going to expand that capacity to at *least* 250 gallons, as well as add a simple water injection system and forced air blower (unless i can find a good aftermarket turbo) to bring her single fillup range to about 3,000 miles. been trying to do this for a long, long time.. had a lot of hard falls getting this far, but the vehicle is in place. conversion should take about two weeks, once i commence after the thanksgiving holidays.. sometime around dec 16th or so... http://www.flickr.com/photos/skygull/5212076138/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/skygull/5212076140/ the engine is strong & she definitely has good towing capabilities, an alison 3 speed automatic... needs to be painted of course... that may be the last thing : ) white enamel base & who knows what else on top of that : ) no significant rust, & the steel construction will last for years & years & years.. she's also a good size to do exploratory excursions with, since she'll fit down most dirt roads & has great ground clearance.. anyways... just letting folks see & know that i'm working on what i was talking about, & not just bullshitting... yeah! let me know what you think... peace, john
you were planning 4wd....make sure you find some chains if not and maybe set it up posi-track if you can (and a big strong come-along and a couple of chains as well as your tools). Some of them dirt roads can turn into a survival trek for the vehicle And of course plenty of water and dried food staples (beans & rice etc) Blessings on your Way Do It ...YEAH !
