I am so glad I read this thread. I've been having my dilemma's with washing. And after 3-4 weeks of washing with Bi-carb, I haven't noticed any change at all in my scalp. I'm still itchy and getting the clumpy/flakey scalp which is flippin gross. So I think I will give this just water thing a try.

My locks do appear to be progressing however. Will hit the 4 month mark next week. Got a crazy dread on the back of my head that's sucking in the ones around it, little bitch.

Oh, and Cameron is right. The weather in that part of Australia is a bitch! I am not looking forward to the heat when I go home at Christmas time. :(

Yeah, I have some of those, still doesn't seem to do much. I'm at a wits end and getting mighty sick of being itchy, but will persist!

Well, I permanently live in Brisbane but I grew up/parents still live in Townsville.

It will get really bad for a few weeks but just push through and don't overwash and then you even out :) I'm never going back to shampoo. I even tried using baking soda again and my scalp got extremely itchy and I broke out with bad acne

Oh that's right, I remember you saying now.
Do you know many nice swimming holes or camping spots there? I know of a few through a 4wd forum I go on, but I'd love to know a few more nice places before I move there next year.

This will be a test of my patience. I guess I could try just water for a few weeks, I was just about to give them a spray with ACV. But I will heed this advice and leave them.

And Cam, Alligator Creek (about 30 minutes south of Townsville) is where I live, there is a pretty popular swimming hole. And Little Crystal Creek at Paluma is pretty great too. Probably the only places that I have really been to lots. I feel sorry for you moving to Townsville though, say goodbye to any culture you have in your life now.

I forgot that I asked haha, but speaking of creeks in the picture thread reminded me...

Ahh Paluma, I've heard that's suppose to be decent for herping. Will have to check it out.

Ohk sweet, I'll make sure to have a look when I'm down there.

I know I'll definitely miss Cairns, but there seems to be a few members down there from a few other 4wd, ethnobotany, and reptile forums so in some aspects it might do some good for meeting a few new people with similar interests.

At least it's not too far from home anyway.

Haha yeah, not like the 1500 k's away I live :( I haven't heard much about paluma being good for Herping, but than again maybe I haven't had my ears open enough! I would have thought it would be too wet/vegetated for most ectotherms, probably only a few freshwater turtle species and a few dragons. I am pumped for some mad adventures up north in like a month though! Wanna check out Hinchinbrook real bad, you ever been?

Apparently there are some Boyd's forest dragons there from something I read, they're beautiful. Would love to find a few more of those.
No I haven't yet, but I'd like to. Suppose to be real nice isn't it?

I've seen that in the shops before and had a flick through it, looks decent.
I'll try and have a proper read of it after my exams.
