I just burnt myself, right on the tip of my pinky, on the inside part of the crockpot. It's all white and it's starting to blister.

Other than ice or cold water, does anyone know any good tips for burns?

    :( :( :(

Something to numb it, like Lanacaine or viscous zylocaine, if you have it. Then use some antibacterial ointment and keep it clean and covered. I hope you heal soon.

after the cool water first aid thing, i always put lavender essential oil on my burns. it takes away the pain and helps the burn heal faster. and i dont have scars from any of the burns that i've put lavender eo on.

dont use ice on burns, just cool water. ice can actualy do more damage. and dont pop the blister.

i use a littel burn creem, usually polly sporin. a doctor can prescibe some more spcialized ointment for larger burns. but theas are more for open burns. if al you have is blister just wrap some gauze on it to keep from beeing bumped to much.

i get burnt just about every other day (job hazard) from metal chips flying off a lathe . they usualy around 600 degees, and they burn instatly when they hit you, usually on neck or arms or hands. they dont do any major damage but they do hurt. specaiily when yu get one down the shirt.

I burnt the tip of my finger with hot wax and it blistered and hurt for hours. Like 8 hours or so. I couldn't take it out of cold water or it would throb. I finally decided to go to the drug store and get some ointment. I asked the pharmicist what she recommended and she said that most doctors don't recommend putting anything on a burn that blisters. Only cold water. And she said not to break the blister, just to let it heal on it's own.

I usually put aloe vera on them though. I didn't have any at the time. It's quite soothing.

Cousin it. My boyfriend is a welder and also gets metal bits on him. One went down his boot and melted into his foot. He just had to wait for it to cool and when it did it fell off. Looked painful. I had that metal piece (quarter sized) for awhile. He doesn't put anything on his burns.

For serious burns the best stuff is an ointment called Slivadine. It is only available with a doctor's prescription, but, damn, it is great stuff. We used to have some in the house, and there were no scars and the pain immediately faded.

My BIL gets viscous Zylocaine in his Boy Scout first aid kits, I burned myself really badly last Christmas when I didn't notice a hole in my oven mitt and took a pan of food out of a 500 degree oven. It hit all four fingers and my thumb and it blistered immediately, and the pain was unbearable. I actually cried and it hurt so badly I couldn't breathe! He gave me the Zylocaine and it was like magic. I also ALWAYS put antibiotic ointment on burns as they cannot fight infection and infection is the biggest obsticle to burn healing and one of the causes of scarring.
