Im looking up home remedies for bacterial vaginosis. It says you can put plain yogurt on a tampon and leave it there for a hour and do it for 3 days and it will get rid of the bacteria. Or tree tea oil. Anyone ever did this?

I'd recommend a check up at your local gynecologist for any issues pertaining to such matterz before trying to stick dairy products in your privates.

I have heard that yogurt works as well. I've never tried it because I have never had a yeast infection...thank good. I had the beginnings of one once but I went to the store and bought some knock off Vagisil and it never turned into anything.

Natural live yoghurt is good. Never heard of the tea tree oil one though.

Ouch!! Don't put tea tree oil on your vajaja!

Eat/drink high amounts of probiotics. Kombucha actually eats any bad bacteria. Drink a couple of glasses of it a day.

Do not put yogurt in your vagina.

    http://www.fwhc.org/health/yeast.htm

It is very low key and not really a good treatment.

    Instead eat the yogurt.

EDIT: I am really suggesting that you seek medical treatment as you have had repetitive issues with this and home remedies are all good and fine if it is a rare occurrence. Yours do not seem to be so there could be an underlying issue that needs to be diagnosed.

Popping a tampon in for anything other than to collect blood is a bad bad idea.

Inserting oil (even tea tree) is not good for you at all. You also shouldn't be washing too much and shouldn't douche at all.

If you have little or no symptoms, the best thing is just to leave it alone. Otherwise, antibiotics will get rid of it. Nothing else.

Lactobacillus acidophilus is for the digestive system. If won't help your fanny!

I clicked your link. It says DO insert yogurt into your vagina. :cuss:

Yogurt is pointless though. It doesn't do a thing when inserted into the vagina.

For a person who has no history of this as a chronic problem then it is not harmful, not overly great at treating but not harmful. Yogurt is a way to assist in restoring balance. Most people though prefer to eat it.

For anyone who has repetitive issues this is not an answer nor a good idea.

I told the OP to not do this as there has been a history of this so medical attention should be sought.

    :) Stop cussing.

It's an old wives tale, it's never been proven.

Most home remedies are old wives tales. Some do actually have merit though. :)

I know. There's a lot of theory in this one and doctors do advise it. But it's been tried and tested and it doesn't appear to be the answer.

    Vaginal Infection Reduction
The National Institutes of Health report that L. acidophilus is an effective treatment for bacterial infections of the vaginal area. Though L. acidophilus is usually taken orally, it's often inserted in tablet form into the afflicted area of the body when treating infections of this kind.
    Bacteria Rebalancing
When you take antibiotics, the medications kill all the bacteria in your digestive tract, including the friendly bacteria. L. acidophilus supplements can help rebalance the digestive tract by repopulating it and may help with common antibiotic side effects like cramping and flatulence, advises the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
