My headphone jack on my god damn fucking ipod broke. It only plays out of one side unless I twist it, but that's a pain in the ass so I gave up. I gave it to my girlfriend for 3 hours while I fixed something on her ipod at my house and by the time I went back to her place it was broken but it "wasn't her fault" apparently. Anyway I just looked it all up on the fuckin' internet and it's a really common problem. There was one question that I didn't see answered though. Are they gonna give me a new one or just fix it? It's inside the warranty so it'll be free but how long will it take? And also does anyone think taking it in to a computer store would be a better idea? I think it would be faster but I'm not sure on the legitimacy.
I've had this happen three or four times with the old iPod Video that I have. You can actually order a replacement part online and fix it yourself. It's fairly basic, just use google to find a part, and then use google again to find a repair tutorial. If you aren't ballsy enough to try it on your own though, it SHOULD be covered under the warranty. I don't know enough about the Apple warranty to give you a good answer though. That being said, I think that I've heard that repairs normally take a bit longer than they should. Computer stores will all fix them too, and they should be quite reliable. it pretty much just comes down to how much you want to pay.
you sure its not the male end of the headphone? i stream my music through my tv and stereo via the headphone jack.. and every now and then.. the prong gets bent and i have to buy a new one.. try a different pair of head phones once.. if that dont work. then bend the prong on your headphones and that'll usually fix it so that all the contacts hit
Thank you, your the man. I got my old headphones and bent them and they basically worked, but then I thought "lets try to make it perfect" but then I snapped the head off. Then I thought "oh well maybe I can put the head in and the insert the rest of the headphones and maybe it will work"... But then I realized I'm a fucking idiot... How would I ever get the little piece out? Thank god I thought of that because I literally had the head of the thing inside the jack ready to be pushed in lol. So I thought "well, I might as well try my good headphones"... So there I am bending it ever so slightly.... BINGO!!! It fucking works perfectly. No matter how I hold it or were I spin it, it still works. I'm so fuckin' happy now. Now I'm gonna take it to this computer place near my old school and those guys will know how to fix it, they were always building computers and shit there so this will be a piece of cake to them.... Unless they want more than $20. Then they can fuck right off, the only reason I need it fixed now is so I can plug it in at my buddies house for tunes. Holy fuck I'm happy.
Haha. Yeah, disregard me. I thought that you'd already tried new headphones. Another thing you can do if you don't have another pair is just try them by plugging them into a t.v. or something like that which has a headphone jack.
I tried 3 pairs, 4 including my guitar ones and then my ipod docks cord thing and then I knew it was fucked. I smoked a sesh a couple minutes ago and now I know how they broke. My girlfriend put them in her purse with the headphones wrapped around the thing. It always breaks shit when you do that and it had to happen to me. Oh well, problem solved.
slide a dental pick in the hole, pry the tab .... dont have a dental pick, take a pin or strong safety needle/ with needle nose pliers bend the tip the needle to make a 90degee angle. work tool in the hole. electronic std fixed...
