You want to see cool bus's/trucks hippie homes on wheels find a copy of the book ROLLING HOMES. It will blow your mind and set you off on your quest for a home on wheels. Out of print for years but probably can be found used through some of the big internet vendors. My old original copy is worn out from so much reading and looking.

There's one that I see around my city every couple of months. The guy who owns it is like 70 and he has a huge white beard. He's probably smoked enough pot to put an elephant to sleep.

Yeah, theres 2 or 3 of those in the Cowichan Valley where I live, think a couple of them belong to folks on Saltspring or Lasqueti (LASS-KWEET- EE) Islands.

One is a completely wooden home like yarapario metioned, the others are adaptation on the same thing. Mine is going to have clouds on top and Eagles all over it on a sky blue background--someday;)

Got my book today, I am so excited and happy and I'm finding all kind of great ideas and planning in my head-probably won't sleep a wink tonight.

Wish the guy whose property it's on would get back from his hunting trip. I am almost DYING with curiosity to see it.

Cheers to Yarapario!!!!:hurray::hurray: for recommending the Rolling Homes book!

I lucked out on mine--because it is going to be a stationary non-traveling object until I can get a drive train, it was FREE (+ towing of course)

So maybe a total cost of $150

Suggest you look on Freecycle, Buy, Sell & Trader papers, here in B.C. we have Truck Trader--it might be online.

Am going to try all the above + a regular newspaper ad as mone needs a fon't clip as well as it's innards.

Definitelt look into that book Yarapario recommended to me, its great and after THREE readings last night I have about 5 pages with bookmarks in them, showing ideas I want to try.

    Good Luck in your quest!:)

Okay-to all of you waiting for "the perfect bus"

I issue a challenge:computer: Get on your computers, find EVERY local source in your area, Freecycle, CraigsList, the online newspapers-advertise if need be- BECAUSE, Lord only knows how many buses like mine are just "sitting all alone" someplace, waiting for someone to come along and give them all some "tender loving mechanical care"

For those of you in rural areas, this may be easier-I know it was for me--because, believe it or not,,,,someone else I know needs a place to park an already done up bus and IF, I can fit it in, I'll let him park it here-its a full size 40 footer, with the top half of a VW van grafted onto the roof.

If he'll let me use it while I'm fixing mine-all the better. You see mine is a project in reverse.

Because I have the bits necessary for converting the inside, I'll do that first and THEN tackle the running gear, which I can get a little at a time through either a truck wrecking yard in Vancouver, or from the internet.

So I began the week with the possibility of 1 bus arriving, and if the other guy's previous arrangement for parking it fall through, I'll have 2:sunny:

ARGH--Project bus around here just came to a grinding HALT!-Rick remember there's no #$%^&* front axle in it.

    I am NOT happy-not sad-FURIOUS!

But if God gives you lemons, make lemonade, I'll have the nose chopped off and taken for scrap by the guy who will fix floor!

I am NOT a happy camper, but what the heck, I'll still have the rest of it for a storage room.
