    You're probably not really serious.

In case you are: don't do it if you don't know what you're doing. It's a recipe for potential stress and misery.

If you're still serious: be very particular about who you're going into a commune wiht and the reasons for it. People will come in with massive good intentions but after a while their behaviour will revert back to their nature. Then the manipulation and politics will start. And the measuring and the carping. You end up carrying others. Eventually you're going to have to expel some people, possibly physically, to make life better. Rules can make things worse with some people, they are difficult to enforce. Although you may start as evryone equal this is unsustainable and it helps if there is a charismatic empathic character that everyone likes and can look up to.

Living in a commune can be great but it takes particular kind of people to make it work, which depends on personality and attitude. What makes a huge difference is if people are living around and for an ideal and enjoy contributing without carping about how much harder they work. Oh and free love does not work, it causes resentment.

Regular open plenary sessions are important from the beginning but be sure to have a threshold for complaints, otherwise all kinds of pettyness gets expressed which breeds resentments.

    Just a perspective.

All too often the people who want to live on a commune the most are the ones least suited for it.

Hey, now that I think about it, HipForums is sort of an online virtual commune!

I recommend down town Savannah, at the old abandoned train station near MLK and Bay St.

My advice to you is visit a few first, gain some skills and meet people who live the good red road-
It's a phantastic thing to wanna do and at such a age to have the inspiration and motive is a blessing. You need to be able to get a understanding of human nature and what is needed to build a community..

Check out my site for some idea's and links with other projects, join up and put a post about your idea's its not as busy as hip but the people there are quality and from all around the world also there is some good information and contacts-

Good luck on your dreams, may you be successful in all that you.
