fender, over all a great rugged instrument, sometimes decent hardware, playable in all genre of music.. alone its signature tone can also be its downfall when effects are not present..

ibanez, sometimes more affordable, closely if not as reliable as the fender strat series, this guitar has some neck issues with rosewood splitting, weak metal used in frets often wear quicker, nuts loosening issues...

?ably any Ibanez or Middle class guitar purchased from Sam Ash will be garbage in a year..

gibson, The bluesiest tones come from the body of this baby. some models are light and cheezy, as is the hardware.. you only get what you pay for.

esp, as they say.. :beauty is In the eye of the beholder. This guitar looks nice but again you only get what you pay for.
neck splitting, cheesy fast craft pots and switches, bad solder jobs..

jackson , the Louisiana slugger with strings. well of course if youre going to bash some bloody heads in, thats what you need..
    hi actions make fingers bleed..
screaming pickups make ears bleed.. very evil guitar ,. do not touch..:reddevil:

Fenders not that bad to be honest but I feel that the bridge can be better and the frets need to be a little more thicker (am talking about the fret the metal piece in the fret board.
You know the Steve Vai Gem is only so expensive because it looks so much like eye candy but other then that I heard its as good as a 1000 dollar ibanez. I personally love Ibanez and it's necks like the wizards II ones I think the feel excellent. The only problem with ibanez is the prestige series guitars the pinck ups are too close to the strings by where you strum.

I have to agree here I can see why its a great blues guitar. Also I love every thing about it but not enough to lose my loyalty with Ibanez to switch over to gibson. I like how comfortable the les pauls are to play and the neck feel.
where would you say theirs a bad solderjob? I personally choose ESP over jackson when it comes to str8 up metal guitars and I just like its feel and more comfortably then jackson.

I have to say the action is high but then again that could be adjusted. I am not crazy about jackson for the fact that fender has bought them years ago and changed the guitars neck feel. I played a PRE jackson owned fender guitar and its great compared to when Fender bought them.

I have to say I like the kelly yet a bit uncomfortable to play standing.

    ^nice post ..
I think too the fenders bridge could be built better.. some hard-tails will snap the wood.. I put the fender through a car window, its shook the neck, broke a few strings, nicked the body, broke a knob.. But now you couldnt tell its been through that now..

Ive picked Ibanez over the years, only because I didnt feel like shelling out 500+ a yr for a new carry around guitar.. Now being older with arthritic hands the ease has gone away playing these full neck instruments.. And like you said, they have a pickup- that just is a tad irritating when palming..

Ive always like the headstock on the jacksons, Its just looks metal..

Though the ibanze headstock, floyd rose with locking caught my eyes when I was younger. it took more to maintain them..

I cant say I handled to many ESP guitars really, they felt like an upgraded Ibanez but with all the musicians behind them. I felt they were just selling crap brands to teenagers. I like the look of the guitar, just not the feel the body .. Maybe Im just weird. but i get a jazz feeling from this instrument.

On the other hand with the Gibson, it may sing blues. but its also versatile with the metal...

and not forget the Dean guitars... I mean I wouldnt really play them... But how would Crazy Train look without the Flying V?.....

oh man I forgot Dean too! personally that guitar neck feels like a toy guitar. It feels plastic"ly" and I think their very unoriginal when it comes to their own designs. They might twist a thing here and their but you can tell they stole it, but yet again ESP does the same but I actually like the feel and sound delivery of a ESP.

Also I have to say that I cant believe I forgot but the Musician-man John Petrucci signature guitar is by far a eternal champion of a guitar. I got to love the feel of the neck! shit it even beats a wizard II neck and the feel of your picking hand by the bridge is comfortable feel plus it gives you the surprise of having no locking system too only easy stay in tune and feel EXCELLENT at every strum and soling play.

I only have a Squire Strat, and an Epiphone Les Paul.

I actually like them though, I mean, they're not Gibsons or Fenders, but they're good for what I payed for them.

I'm definitely a Fender fan. I simply LOVE the American Strats, and the Teles. They have SUCH a great tone. Being a NOFX fan, the Tele really really rings with me.. I want one so badly.

I played an Ibanez at my local guitar store, they're great, they have a great sound, and they have pretty good feeling necks. I might be committing blasphemy here though, but I actually liked the Shecter the most out of the "metal" guitars I've played. The necks felt great for power chords, and I felt like I could solo on one.. this is coming from a terrible player who can only really improvise in the pentatonic scale, so that's saying a lot. It really felt like it could play itself. It had the metal look too, with the bats on fret markers.. such an awesome looking guitar. I'd buy that if I were looking for a metal guitar. Seriously.

Still, since I play more punk than anything on electric, I'd pick the Tele over anything else for my next guitar.

I also play a bit of folk, country, and bluegrass (very little bluegrass). For that, I play on acoustic, specifically, a Martin DX-1. There are three brands of acoustics I love: Martins, Gibsons, and Ovations. Martins just sound simply heavenly, I mean, really.. even my cheap little DX-1 sounds beautiful. Gibson Hummingbirds and Doves also sound beautiful. I can imagine that if I had either of those guitars, my grandad's friends and I would have GREAT jam sessions, the sounds would just fill everything in.. it'd be amazing.

And I LOVE Ovations. I've played them before, and not only do I think they have a unique sound, but they just look amazing. Has anyone seen the new ones by Guns 'n' Roses' current guitarist? I love the designs on those. Ovations win on design, really.

Wow long post, sorry guys >>

    Fender-

Pros- Comfortable to play and hold, cheap spare parts

Cons- Can be too whiney and twangy, they over charge big time considering most of them are ghost made now.

    Ibanez-

    Pros- Easy to play, cheap,

    Cons- One trick ponies, cheap

    Gibson-

Pros- Excellent quality, excellent sound, great feel, great customer service

Cons- Fucking expensive, the necks can be sticky because of the thick finish

    Esp-

    Pros- Cheap

Cons- The cheap models are complete shit, terrible necks, horrible pickups, very cheaply made, sound like shit (you can't get a good esp unless you spend almost $3000)

I had a dean V owned buy the DokKen band.. I resold it, I didnt like it either JMT said plastic, I can remember that it was.. I didnt get the stated $700.00- $1000value of the instrument even though it was authentic, I got $250 resell.. I put that towards a Guild acoutic with pickups - such a sweet guitar I lost in a flood.. I could of salvaged it im sure/ depressed over the situation.

Well I played a Seagull guitar today. Anyone ever hear of them? The one I played was a 12-string, and it just sounded amazing. Especially for the price.

The only thing that gets me is how the neck felt kinda thin.. which, in a way, is a good thing, but most 12-strings are sorta thick.. definitely a change. I still like the Ovation 6 strings I played better, as beautiful as a 12-string is, you can't really match the uniqueness of the Ovation.

Oh and I played a Shecter Diamond series through a Marshall 5 watt tube amp today. I.. I.. can't believe it was only 5 watts. :|
