Since I've been on this forum I've read about this thing called DXM. Never heard of it before I got on hip forums. Can anybody explain to me what it is or what the high is like? also where does one find DXM? Is it anything like an opiate? because I have a pretty high tolerance level when it comes to painkillers , I love those things =) anyway I was just hoping somebody could enlighten me on DXM. there is a dxm faq sticky thread at the top but i'll answer your questions and you can look in that thread too to learn more information 1. DXM is short for DeXtroMethorphan. It is a dissociative like ketamine or pcp 2. DXM is found in cold medicines. It is strongly advised to only use products with DXM as the only active ingredient 3. Although DXM is classified as a dissociative, it IS a synthetic morphine analog and thus does contain pain-relieving properties you have to do high doses to reach the dissociative properties of dxm. if its your first time, id say do somewhere around 200-300 mgs. tolerance builds quick though so dont do it too often. i made the mistake of doing it too often and now i can take up to 1000 mgs and still trip out somewhat but basically i can still act sober.
i'm wondering about the presence of guaifenesin in my dxm. i've never had any problem with it before, (unlike tylenol which gave me a terrible stomach ache) so for me it doesn't seem to bring any adverse effects while tripping.. any thoughts on this?
as far as i know, guaifenesin makes most people nauseous which is why dxm trippers tend to avoid it. ive never had problems with it though. in fact the first time i tripped on dxm it had guaif with it and i didnt puke once during the trip. i wouldnt make a habit of doing dxm with guaif though. dxm tolerance can build quick and the more dxm you have to take, the more guaif you have to take and that increases the chances of getting sick during your trip. id recommend switching to robitussin cough gels or delsym cough syrup (its good tasting for a cough syrup. ACTUAL good tasting, not like how the commercials tell you a cough syrup tastes good and it tastes like ass in real life)
it doesnt make a difference during the trip. i was going through some rough shit and just wanted to get effed up so i found 2 bottles of tussin dm, both had like idk 2 mgs of guaf per serving. after looking up the side effects of it i seen it wasnt lethal so i chugged one and used the other one the next day basically was a 48 hour trip. only thing that sucked was my stomach felt really weird after i was done. its perfectly fine to use. i did it and didnt die.
