The above pic is barefoothippie's pic.

Use img in square brackets in front of the link and /img in square brackets after the link.

Don't use quote marks and don't use SRC=.

I agree, but I'd say these are hardly the feet of a "hard core bare footer"!

So what do the feet of a "hard core" barefooter look like? What is a "hardcore" barefooter anyway? Someone who doesn't wash or groom his feet? You're supposed to REMOVE calloused skin, you know --- not only does it look ugly, it will also form painful cracks.

that's acctually not true, if you go barefoot alot calouses help protect the skin from getting hurt, and it doesn't form painful cracks, I haven't removed my calouses in about 3 years, and there's been no pain at all. Sometimes they peel on thier own, but you shouldn't mess with your body, it knows what it's doing alot better than you do.

But I agree that was a silly thing to say, just cause someone's feet aren't dirty only means that they shower occaisonally, not that they aren't as hardcore as anyone else.

oh! and also, very nice pics, you're a cutie ;)

I like my feet touched and played with, so... as superficial or un-hippie as it may sound... I keep them looking nice by using soap, lotion and even the occasional foot scrub. No offense to "hard core" barefooters... but if you really want to get intouch with nature and "feel" the earth, use a foot file and you'll be surprised how sensitive your soles can be. And when they're clean looking, it's a lot easier to get someone who's not as foot friendly to appreciate them.

I didn't mean that a barefooter doesn't shower and keeps his/her feet clean! Of course, I keep mine clean as well. But I was amazed that Barefoothippie's feet look so little calloused. Mine are, I try removing the extra calloused skin because of the cracks I develop all the time, but I don't seem to be very successful. Do you people have suggestions about the best way to prevent your feet from having these painful cracks?

You're confusing "callouses" with thick skin. "Callouses" can't possibly protect your skin.

I am a "barefooter" of the hard-core variety, I guess. I pretty much never wear shoes, and when I do, I just wear plain Reef flip-flops. The last time I wore closed shoes was at my brother's wedding in March, and only then for a few hours. (I hated them!)

As much as I go barefoot everywhere all the time, I have not built up some amazing thick calloused skin on my feet. I don't do anything extraordinary to keep it from forming -- it just doesn't. Maybe it's the fact that a lot of my barefooting is done in the semi-urban area I live in, since there's so much concrete. The concrete surfaces I walk on act like constant pumice stones.

The acquired toughness of my feet seems to come from experience rather than a physical thickening of the skin on my soles. You simply get used to going barefoot. It's not like my feet would be so much more resistant to a slice from something sharp than a non-barefooter's feet would be. It's just that the sensation of stepping on pointy things does not faze me like it would if I didn't go barefoot so much.

My feet, in a picture, would look much like barefoot hippie's do.

By the way, if you go to my little website on geocities, you can see how similar barefoothippie and I look!

The pics show me barefoot -- but you wouldn't know because my feet aren't in the frame.

Someday soon I'll take/post pics of me barefoot, so you can see again that the feet of a "hardcore barefooter" don't have to look all beat-up and dirty and gnarly. :p

wow that was a great helpful conversation about feet. haha just think..if barefoot here wouldn't have showed us foot, we wouldn't have this great topic to talk about...i agree with paix. you are a cutie. I do hate to wear shoes like most of you but when winter strikes, i find it uncomfortable to walk around with no shoes...so that's when the shoes appear. it does feel wierd to wear tennis shoes now so of course i don't wear them. anyway,

I figured this would be a good thread to put this up in. It's a while late, but I have a pic or two of me barefoot now.

    Here I am! [IMG]
