As a way of deciding the range of music to review in my podcast, I've decided to poll the forums: would you consider CH (and/or bands like them) a contemporary "hippieesque" band or not? Would you like to see them covered in this type of podcast? Feel free to comment if you wish...thanks!
No. Why would you think they're hippies? They're a fun hip hop group, but hip hop is rather opulent in its lifestyle.
Well, in my opinion they're not, however as I don't listen to them & I know they're big on the smokeout, I didn't know wheither or not many folks considered them 'hippieesque" so I was trying to step a bit outside my preconceptions & just get a feel for folks' thoughts...fair enough, looks like they won't be included thus far...
Is a black metal band gansta if their songs have a similar theme as hip hop? Is a band immediately 'hippie' because their songs have a similar theme as the subculture? I don't think so. Why divide artists by this anyway? Are they less fun if they don't fit in the hippie corner?
They are not hippie. Lyrics are way too tough and in the reality of da hood for that. But, they are an awesome modern-day 420 group!
Just look at the two different demeanors and tell me which one you think cypress hill would identify with better
well your opinion is dead wrong. For the love of god it's fucking hip hop, I don't even see how such a blunder in catagorization is possable. I'm not even going to vote in this poll it's so absurd.
Ok, so the fact they're not hippies has been well established...as I said they won't be included...thanks to everyone who voted...
No to all, and yes, I understand that there's a difference between being a hippie & just liking to smoke pot, but I just decided to put the question out there as everyone has different opinions where music's concerned...
