I fucking love life at the moment. It feels like I'm accomplishing so much shit. I'm not even out of high school yet and I'm already making mad loot just putting shows together and shit.

I've put like 20 shows on in like the past year. People are getting to know my name and at school everyone gets their tickets off me for local shows.

There's this bar that just opened around 6 months ago and the guy who owns it is in a band. He loves metal and lots of cool music, he's in a punk band right now (I'll explain soon).

Anyway, after playing the open mic night there a couple times me and the owner started getting friendlier. He told me he wants his bar to start getting more into the music business, he shelled out a lot of money just for all the licensing and shit.

My job is to get bands to play at the bar. I'm in charge of every fucking band that walks on stage, if they fuck up it's my ass on the line. If they get boo'd I'm the one who's gonna get freaked on. So it was pretty intense at first.

The place is a decent sized club, there's a bar at one end and during the day there's tables for people to eat and stuff. Then on the other side there's the stage which is a good size, it's not huge but it's perfect for up to 6 people.

I've seen the place transfer into a sports bar to a metal club, although it was only a sports bar for like a 2 months. Now it's full of guitars hung up and posters of local shows and a huge sound system with lights and shit.

I always dreamed of being some being some big time businessman and it feels like I'm getting a small taste of that. It doesn't even feel like I'm trying, but I'm helping so much come to the metal community.

My band used to play every other Saturday night before I ended that project. I stopped performing for a couple months while I started a new band that I'm really happy with.

Every Thursday is the open jam night where like 10 bands come, there's a couple regulars but it's usually different people now.

I'm allowed to play every Saturday again once the E.P comes out but I'm not sure if I want to. There's obviously gonna be some sort of CD launch party at the bar presented by Hive Studios (yes I just plugged them, sue me).

I wanna tour Ontario with like 3 other bands. I know another band that is already down to tour so we only need two more. I know I'll get to headline every night so I'm not worried about who I'm playing with.

I've opened for a couple bands (As Oceans Burn, Dead & Divine, Threat Signal). The engineer at the studio I'm recording at actually made Dead & Divine and another guy who works at the studio was in Threat Signal. I've been to AOB's jamspace numerous times and I'm pretty sure they're gonna be the next big band to come out of my city (Hamilton), Threat Signal are also were the first.

Anyway, I'm gonna be showing you guys some sick clips of the past little while of my life starting soon.

Isn't Threat Signal touring Europe right now, or is it a different band with the same name?

Yup, they made out of the Hammer and then right out of North America. Just wait, in a year or two your going to be hearing this new band As Oceans Burn just like you hear about Decapitated today. This city is overflowing with metal.

Yeah, you don't want to play too often. Unless you're coming out with a ton of new material, or you're playing in different spots every time, chances are that people are going to get burnt out with hearing the same songs over and over every week.

Sounds cool dude, im familiar with a quite a few metal bands from my area and ive often talked with my friends about doing a similar thing.
The problem over here is that there is like only one agencey where i live that puts on metal shows, and its usually mainstream crap, a lot of the good local bands often just organize gigs themselves and get one one of their mates to take door sales, pretty low key stuff.
I doubt Canada has the same problem as NZ with a lack of an organised metal community, but I think there is huge potential in this market. It would be cool to set up some small agencey that puts together shows combining international and local acts, or even just a metal bar would be fucking cool.
