Can anyone offer advice on how to properly go about making a trip report? Do you write things down during the trip? How much time do you spend on the report during the trip ect. Or if there is advice for this that already exists somewhere can you point me towards it?
everyone does it differently. have you browsed any on the forums here, by different users? make it your own, do what you feel is natural. i for one, rarely take notes while i am tripping, occasionally and depending on the substance. BUT i usually have a notebook with me because you NEVER know what urge or desire you are going to have to write or scribble. the best advice i can say is eat the psych, and enjoy it, even if you take notes during it...and THEN write a TR after. my best reports are written 2-5 days (but on occasion, months) after the trip. there are reports that people note every 10-15 minutes or so, which can be informative, for people who are reading before they trip for the first time or for new or rarely used substances, but i find these less, well for lack of a better word, ineresting... it's just about reporting a trip, every psychonaut has their own method, just like different authors vary in writing technique. good luck
I never write down things during the trip. Sometimes I don't write a trip report until days or weeks after the trip. Just start writing. Just write down what about the trip was important to you, what stood out, write down the things that are worth someone reading. Avoid writing too much about non-trip things in your trip report if they are secondary details, I don't need to know your life story or what kind of pizza you ate unless it's relevant to the trip in some way. Communicate the essence of the trip to me, there's no secret, just speak. Let it flow. Trial and error.
Generally what I do is write down anything that feels really important - or that I feel I might forget during a trip, the rest I write up into a coherent report the next morning when my memory of the experience is still fresh. It'd be more accurate to write it all during the trip, but that distracts you from the trip itself, and you may have trouble putting it into words.
Sometimes I need time to let it sink in though, and sometimes the next morning comes too quickly. I've had trips I still haven't written a TR about.
IF i'm going to write it down (many i do not) i at least get a start on a kind of outline within 48 hours of returning to baseline.
I could have just as easily made this thread. I usually don't write TRs. I want to but I know I wont be able to properly put it into words so I just say fuck it. When you have something to write you'll know it. Sometimes.
