last night i woke up at like 4:30 and i couldnt move at all for like 5 seconds. and today my arms feel heavy and unpleasant. is this bad or should i not worry about it.
Ya I had the same thing happen but with visuals and their were aliens coming towards me. I was awake completely I felt my body and was trying to move it, I could hear what was going on in the room, the tv on but these things were coming towards me. Then I was able to move thank gods. Ya don't worry bout it, it only happened to me once and wish it would happen again! ur lucky double guns!
Nothing to worry about-- consistent sleep paralysis may be treated as a disease or affliction by some physicians, but the causes are often disputed. I had an experience similar to adforester's-- somehow ended up telling aliens where to land for maximum invasion effect. It's a scary situation sometimes, but nothing to be concerned about. Many lucid dreamers "accidentally" end up in this state. Check out the wikipedia article, it's pretty thorough: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis
sleep paralysis is pretty common, I wouldn't worry about it. I have these horrible dreams where I think I'm awake, lying in my bed, and I keep trying and trying to reach my hand out and turn on my lamp so the serial killer lurking around in my room will disapear (i'm slightly cracked in the head) but I can't move. Then I wake up and I still can't move for the first few seconds I'm awake. Its terrifying but nothing to worry about.
I recently had a dream that turned very lucid midway through. Toward the end, I felt like I (the dreaming I that is in bed) was levitating. In my dream I thought "I have to open my eyes and see what is going on." Well, I opened them and my arms and legs were elevated and I felt like I was off of my bed. I had little to no control over my body. Above me, borderline in my face, was a white head/face with a faint figure. It's face was "rushing," sort of like being's faces when Frodo puts the ring on in the LOTRs movies. Confused, I tried to yell "Help!" I could not get words out. I closed my eyes and slowly came to. I had a warmth through my body almost like the very first tangibles of a mushroom onset. After this, I wished I would have left my eyes open. I was startled. If it could somehow happen again, I would see what was going to happen. I had this levitating rush before, but I was on my side and did not think to open my eyes. I wish I could do this on command.
The dream that woke me up is even scarier. I had a dream that a demon possessed one of my friends and his name was Ihkbob... It was fucking weird. But I'm just going to blame it on my paranoia. I've been on a Ghost Adventures watching spree. And I've been super paranoid about ghosts that last few days. Why did I do that to myself.
It's nothing to worry about although it can be really intense and frightening at times. I used to get it pretty frequently when I was younger and many times it was like an OOBE. They seemed to stop once I started taking SSRIs. Now that I'm off the meds I only am likely to get sleep paralysis if I fall deeply asleep on my back. I've heard others report this too, I don't know, why but it's more likely to happen if you fall asleep on your back or at least are in that position when waking up.
