There are several communities in Christchurch. Mansfield/Chippenham, 51 Browns Rd., Merivale. This goes back to 1971 and is one of the original hippie communes still going and is in the centre of Christchurch. The community has a farm at Oxford known as Cricklegrass. The other communities are of the co-housing type :the Peterborough Street housing cooperative, 173-181 Peterborough Street (1981): Creekside community, 117-119A Warrington Street, St. Albans (1973).
