    Link to results of the only study I could find from this link you provided;
    http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/driving_while_under_the_influenc
    Only one link on that page worked and the info below was only in the archived section of that site.
    http://webarchive.nationalarchives....eme3/cannabisanddrivingareviewoft4764?page=12

    I did find this one sentence of interest in the above conclusion, though I encourage you to read the entire thing;

    "Of the many psychotropic drugs, licit and illicit, that are available and used by people who subsequently drive, cannabis may well be amongst the least harmful. Campaigns to discourage the use of cannabis by drivers are certainly warranted. But concentrating a campaign on cannabis alone may not be in proportion to the safety problem it causes" (Robbe, 1994, p. 177).

    Then the other link you provide you carefully quote one line, when in actuality if you read the entire page, it doesn't support the conclusion you are implying it does.;

    DUI Marijuana: Does Marijuana Impair Driving?
    Posted by Lawrence Taylor on December 14th, 2004

    It is against the law to drive while under the influence of marijuana. It has always been assumed that cannabis, like alcohol, impairs the perception, coordination, reflexes and judgment necessary for the safe operation of a motor vehicle. And, of course, there have been governmental studies addressing the question: Does marijuana impair driving?

    Interestingly, however, the findings do not necessarily support popular opinion…. On the one hand, the California Department of Justice has found that marijuana undoubtedly impairs psychomotor abilities that are functionally related to driving and that driving skills may be impaired, particularly at high-dose levels or among inexperienced users. "Marijuana and Alcohol: A Driver Performance Study", California Office of Traffic Safety Project No. 087902 (Sept. 1986).

    Contradicting these conclusions, however, are two federal studies. The U.S. Department of Transportation conducted research with a fully interactive simulator on the effects of alcohol and marijuana, alone and in combination, on driver-controlled behavior and performance. Although alcohol was found consistently and significantly to cause impairment, marijuana had only an occasional effect. Also, there was little evidence of interaction between alcohol and marijuana. Accidents and speeding tickets reliably increased with alcohol, but no marijuana or combined alcohol-marijuana influence was noted. "The Effects of Alcohol on Driver-Controlled Behavior in a Driving Simulator, Phase I", DOT-HS-806-414.

    A more recent report entitled "Marijuana and Actual Performance", DOT-HS-808-078, noted that "THC is not a profoundly impairing drug….It apparently affects controlled information processing in a variety of laboratory tests, but not to the extent which is beyond the individual’s ability to control when he is motivated and permitted to do so in driving". The study concluded that:

    "…An important practical objective of this study was to determine whether degrees of driving impairment can be actually predicted from either measured concentration of THC in plasma or performance measured in potential roadside "sobriety" tests of tracking ability or hand and posture stability. The results, like many reported before, indicated that none of these measures accurately predicts changes in actual performance under the influence of THC…".
    The researchers found that it "appears not possible to conclude anything about a driver’s impairment on the basis of his/her plasma concentrations of THC and THC-COOH determined in a single sample".

    Note: "THC" stands for Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the intoxicating ingredient in marijuana. THC is fairly quickly converted by the body into inert metabolites, which can stay in the body for hours or even days. It is these metabolites that police blood tests in DUI arrests detect and measure. In other words, (1) marijuna may not impair driving ability at all, and (2) the blood "evidence" only measures an inactive substance which may have been there for days.

    So in reality the meaning of the sentence you quoted has to do with the reliability of ROADSIDE SOBRIETY CHECKS and not the impairment from marijuana. Actually, given the article in it's entirety states that because marijuana does NOT produce profound nor consistent impairment concerning driving ability, that any roadside test is of little value in correlating impairment vs concentration of THC in a subjects blood.

    So contrary to what you think, there have been a lot of studies done that consistently arrive at the same conclusions; namely that marijuana does impair driving ability, but can actually have the opposite effect than expected, drivers slow down and tend to drive more cautiously.
    I'm not saying that people are better drivers when high on weed, just that all the reports done thus far have not shown it to be severly impairing.
    Of course driving under the influence of any substance that alters perception and reaction time is unwise and irresponsible, but your statements about there not being any conclusive studies regarding it are completely wrong.

    Maybe you should actually read things before you referr to them to support you position or you end up looking foolish.

    The next sentence is:

    "The main conclusion from this report is that there is insufficient evidence of the accident risk associated with cannabis."

    Earlier within the article:

    "Indeed, it is problematic to estimate the extent of exposure independent of other risk factors associated with cannabis use such as alcohol."

    To me that suggests that there hasn't been enough research to compare alcohol and MJ.
    Obviously if you drink 5 pints and compare that to a few spliffs there will be a vast difference.
    But comparable studies? I just can't find.

    I'm sorry not every link worked, but I did read the ones that did and used the info (The report names an No.s) to find the ones that didn't.
    I only said it was a few links I'd looked into, not that every single link made my point for me or even worked.

    The potential reliability."…An important practical objective of this study was to determine whether degrees of driving impairment can be actually predicted from either measured concentration of THC in plasma or performance measured in potential roadside "sobriety" tests of tracking ability or hand and posture stability..."

    I accept it wasn't making the point I was trying to make.
    My mistake.
    Not intentional.

    That interpretation really does not sound accurate to me.
    I'll let it go, though.

    Not yet. I just ran out of my stockpile of bud ice that was on sale at the time. I wasn't about to pour it down the drain in anger. I will try to call them again tomorrow.

    i am glad that Sierra and Stone stepped up and made a point of disassociating themselves from the lobby. what sucks is that companies don't adapt. they dont want to lose 'customers' to another product, but i smoke and drink a little, im not going to cut out alcohol. are you going to quit drinking beer because weed is legal? probably not, but youll be less paranoid about the weed. its hypocritical, and if people wouldn't pay attention to the crap political ads, and instead made informed decisions for themselves, then the $$ donated to anti-marijuana campaigns, or any special interest would be moot. the thing is that everyone has to step up and make informed choices, and most people base all their info on the ads, so they vote like the bought and sold zombies they are.

    I got some Canadian beer today. I thought it was a good beer cause I had to chew the cap off. Then I checked the list when I got home, and it was on it also. :mad:

    I googled Sierra Nevada, and Stone just now, so I know what to look for next time.

    Voodoo and Grolsch are good, but expensive.

    Speaking of rice water, have you tried Sapporo (Japanese). I got messed up on that shit before.

    I'll take decriminalized weed that the government hasn't fucked with/up like they did tobacco and alcohol. When they legalize it, it will most certainly end up lethal and addictive.
