Ok, so I'm a high school student and I love to go barefoot. I practically never wear shoes. So, just out of curiosity, what is your opinion on going barefoot in school? :)

Nice to hear of a teen who loves to go barefoot, really don't see that too much these days now that flip flops have become standard footwear.

Going barefoot to school sound like lots of fun, have you gone shoeless to school before? What are the rules at your high school in regards to bare feet?

Wish I could have gone barefoot in high school, but I was just too shy to do so.

First of all, welcome to the Forums :)

And, well, since most of us here are pro-barefoot people, you won't get any "don't do it!" remarks from us, I'm sure. As has been posted above, your school's rules and possible dress code might get in the way... but if there are no rules concerning footwear written down, go for it.

One strong factor of feeling well being barefoot at school is your peers' reactions. As you wrote, you're barefoot almost anywhere, so people will already know that you're not the typical teenage fashion victim, but choose to be different and to show it, too. If your schoolmates already consider your style being cool, there's no problem whatsoever. Just go barefoot and enjoy it. And if you have friends attending the same school who are willing to try it out, as well, that's even better - you won't be isolated, then.

    Wiggling bare toes encouragingly,

If it wasn't for my high-school having a strict shoe policy, I would have been there barefoot 100% of the time.
In primary school I was barefoot for the whole 7 years practically, apart from a few odd days.
Now that I'm at university I normally tend to wear thongs as some of the rooms I had to go in had a 'No bare feet' policy. Although this semester I no longer have anything in those rooms so have started barefooting it again :D

But my advice to you, assuming your school allows bare feet, is just to do what you feel comfortable with. If you feel comfortable being barefoot in front of your peers then go for it! Be confident about it though, not in the way that you make a point to show people, but if you feel insecure about it, that's when people can get to you.

:D Thank you all for your advice. And at my high school there is a strict "no barefoot" policy. :( BUT!!! Most of my teachers are very lax and chill about it. So, as far as I'm concerned, I can at least be barefoot about 90% of the time. In between classes is a no-no, though. And as per how people think of me: People will think what they want. I'm very open about who I am and what I believe in. And, as much as I wish otherwise, not everyone is going to think that's cool. I just go with the flow, spreading my message as much as possible. :)

I left school a good few years ago now but I go to work barefoot.

I'm sure that if I'd asked anyone at the company for permission to do so then it would have been refused out of hand. However, I'm a great believer in the adage that it is a lot easier to gain forgiveness than permission so I just started coming in barefoot and nobody said anything.

That was six years ago now ! :)

    I'd say go for it.

The worst that can happen is that you are told to wear shoes.

The best thing that can happen, though, is that nobody can be bothered to make an issue out of something so completely harmless and inconsequential and you get to go barefoot permanently as I'm now lucky enough to be able to do.

    Good luck ! :)

and depending on how well you are in with the teachers and admin staff(taking into consideration the size of your school) you could just explain, (as I did as a HS student) I have an issue wearing shoes, they hurt, are almost always uncomfortable, and I know there are health risks but I don't put my feet in my mouth. And if you don't have ties with-in

if you get caught you could always just say something like.... oh sorry I woke up for school this morning and my feet swelled up last night and wouldn't fit in my shoes today.

    Would not do it.
    Youth chew too much gum.
    Gum gets stuck between toes.
    Ewwwwww.

Wear sandals (not flip flops) in the hallways then you can discretely slip them off in the classroom.
You probably should protect the soles of your feet on hard tile floors. A good quality moulded sandal would do the job while still giving you the air to keep your feet fresh and clean. Flip flops in the shower are probably a little more sanitary as well than bare feet on a wet floor shared by all the other girls.

I 'barefooted' while in high school in that I wore only socks, never shoes.

I got written up for being a health hazard because my feet were touching the floor, so then I moved on to wearing socks instead.

i think shoes or the lack there of should be a choice @ school & in the work place as well as everywhere else!!!

I don't go to school barefoot, but I find excuses to run around barefoot once in a while, and I usually slip my flip-flops off under my desk. If I'm wearing tennis shoes, I keep them on because I am considerate. :p

It doesn't really have anything to do with consideration, unless you're referring to the fact that your feet may or may not smell rank as shit.

I got suspended for going barefoot in the hallways, once, I still take my shoes off in class, though.

Suspended? Wow, talk about over reacting. That's ridiculous!
