No, it will not. How would regulating marijuana use for recreation all of a sudden make medical marijuana illegal?? Thats non sense!

Read the bill Section 3, article 5, section 11300 - Anyone 21 yo or older can have up to an ounce of cannibis, can grow in their own home as long as it is in a space no larger than 25 sg ft, i will stop there for a second.

Right now, one flower will get you in jail. This measure allows you an ounce of pot and your own garden.... HOW DOES THAT PUT RECREATIONAL USERS AT RISK FOR ARREST??

Please tell me, I seek your wisdom

How?? Seriously How?? How can weed becomibng MORE available and punishments less severe threaten use to medical users and spiritual users?? HOW??

Do you know the motive?? Hmmm, try reading his article in the examiner.. Ill give you a hint, it's a battle of morality.

I agree to some extent, this is NOT full legalization. But what freedoms will this destroy for current users?? How will growers fall out of the market?? HOW i ask you? And you say corporatization of cannibis like its a bad thing?? I would rather go to the liquor store and have 500 liquors to choose from than one shady guy making vodka in his bathtub hustlin on the street corner. AND you can grow in your own residense, so if you dont like the commercial weed in the store, grow your own man!! Nuff said

    Preposterous

What is so "HAZY" about it? Read the bill this LONG overdue and is better than the current cannibis situation. And it is ONE step closer to full legalization, the Government just wants to put their hands in the pot.

Remember what I said about the moral battleground.. Read up on his story

There is war right now with the mexican cartels and the law in this country becausze of the dope game. In the 30s war broke out over liquor, when liquor was available readily in shops the mob went away. You have all these criminal organizations controling the weed in the country, once the weed is in the store I believe you will see their power be greatly reduced to nothingness (as far as marijuana goes) which is the biggest cash crop ever. History speaks truth, you should listen to it.

WTF are you talking about?? READ THE BILL, its not big, here http://ag.ca.gov/cms_attachments/initiatives/pdfs/i821_initiative_09-0024_amdt_1-s.pdf
READ IT AND STOP SPEWING BULLSHIT

Im done, Everything you speak can be disputed with research and logic, I've wasted enough time deflating your arguments.

Please people, READ THE BILL, this bill will be the new legislation so you might want to get aquainted with it before you talk about it. Ill be the FIRST to admit there are MANY MANY flaws in this bill that I would change but it is what it is.

And weedshooter, please, as a human being, stop trying to spread bs propaganda about this measure, thats what the big bad government is supposed to do :) I dont think they'd appreciate you doing their job

    Peace in the east

It may be flawed/imperfect or whatever, but it is what it is. An attempt to legalize cannabis for recreational use for adults. We can iron out the details later. Let us NEVER underestimate the pure power of a legal precedent.

Now more than ever it is so important that EVERYONE get off of their lazy, stoned asses and VOTE! Remember you do not even have to leave the house - you can vote via absentee ballot.

    Peace & Love,
    Spicey Cat,

the only "hip" people against this bill are the ones making the most $ off the setup as it is now. if i have a choice to rent my house to a legal grow for 2 grand a month, or a family 0f 4 for 1000 a month,, that house will be full of plants.if it cost me 400 to grow a pound that i can legally flip for 2000, i want it left that way.thats the mentality.
its about losing control of the grow,if everyone can, then less business for them.

i was up berkeley way last week,is amazing the amount of diff kinds of medicine, quality controlled,,all so neat and tidy.cards are 60 bucks,,,, if you want to smoke,, you can, doctor is a rubber stamp.
i would worry bout corporate takeover,, marlboro greens,, but that will be swag, not medicinal.

This Friday October 15 is the deadline for Californians to register to vote for prop 19. Something to keep in mind if you plan on voting but are not registered already. You can pick up the form to register at any post office apparently.

I don't need this to be passed to know that I have the right to smoke, so nothing will really change for me

But at least you would have the comfort of knowing your fellow Californian potsmokers would no longer be persecuted.

no, because that would validate the government and give the impression that freedoms we are told we can have are actually freedoms.

If the vote was for "hey we(the government) decided we aren't going to tell anyone what to do with their bodies and everyone can smoke weed now, we don't care" then it'd be cool, I still wouldn't vote, but it would be cool.

BUT it's being put on the same level as alcohol, only people 21 and up can go out and buy it. I believe that everyone should have the choice to do what they want regardless of age.

Marijuana isn't a party commodity like this new law will treat it, it's a sacred plant that we should coexist with as opposed to regulating it at all, or regulating people in general.

Yes just seems like a win win win situation. The state will be able to claim taxes and make money. Less users will end up in jail with trivial charges compared to rapists and murderers. Tax payers will spend less money on housing people in jail for marijuana related charges. It seems there will be less violence associated with the crop as well.

That being said, I think there should be a bit of regulation in place upon legalization, rather than a free for all. Like cigarettes, purchasing mary jane should be age limited (arguable what that age should be). Burning in middle school isn't necessarily the best for developing brains, I watched a few friends' cognition decline/fail to develop by smoking non-stop in middle and highschool. Granted people will still do what they will do and most end up just fine, I just think the state should impart a few legalities upon making mj legal. Another might be driving while "lifted". I watched a buddy of mine stop in the left hand turn lane at a traffic light all stoney. The light to go straight then turned green while the light to turn left was still red. He ran the red left turn light and was T-boned by another car going straight through the light on the other side of the intersection going 45mph. I was sitting right behind him honking the whole time to get him to notice what he was doing.

I know some may think, well what a dumb mistake that was. Simply put, some folks are better than others and performing motor functions when lifted, but laws can't work on a sliding scale to accomodate everyone, so it makes sense to place a few regulations on mj in the interest of safety.

Anyway, sorry for rambling on about all that, yes on 19 makes sense too me!

Skip posted the entire proposition and it does have restrictions concerning driving, minors, etc. much the same as alcohol. So already covered in prop 19 :)

Something seems fishy to me.. Does anyone else smell it in the way this whole thing is moving and the way it is orchestrated??

IDK, I still believe in this proposition but something just isnt sitting right with me.. Like after the proposition marijuana will STILL be illegal. I've read the bill over and over and theres just something that is sitting uneasy with me. There are MANY new lwas being created by this bill mind you, MANY.

For anyone who wants it (i may have posted it above too?)

Does anyone else feel what im saying though? Theres a shift that just seems odd, the closer and closer we get.

Legalizing it would cost EVERYONE a lot less. How much money do think it takes to prosecute all the simple possession charges. Legalizing it will save any state that does it MILLIONS of dollars a year in court costs alone.
It is a much bigger money picture than just what it will cost you to get an ounce.
That is the reason the governator signed a new law the other week making simple possession of an ounce or less an infraction, lowering it from a misdemeanor. It will save California millions of dollars in court costs and help relieve an already overburdened judicial system in the state. That goes into effect Jan. 1
