ive done dxm about 9 or 10 times now over the past year or 2. its usually spaced out with a month or more between trips, except one time i tripped literally the whole weekend, i found 2 bottles of tussin DM and drank one tripped all friday and saturday and then when i felt like i was coming down i drank the whole other one and i really felt the effects of that on my brain for a good 2 months. i was wondering if i should be worried about stopping yet or not, i think i should be fine as long as i keep spacing it out good
Just make sure and space it out. I personally feel dissassociatives damage the brain pretty quickly. Its not in an OMG you're going to be a vegetable for the rest of your life sense but in a subtle deterioration of like memory recall and speech sense. Probably doesn't happen to everyone and its certainly hard to recognize if it is happening because I think your brain wants to make you feel like you're operating at an optimal level. You obviously recognize something though or you would not have created this thread, so be careful with that stuff and use it wisely.
yes i deffinitely recognize speech sense problems. they arent horrible but i deffinitely recognize a difference. my memory recall is deffinitely worse too. thanks a lot for your help, i didnt even know those were problems from dxm but i deffinitely have sensed them. i think ill do a couple more trips but other than that i think im done because if im already sensing this stuff i dont want to press the issue. its just hard for me to get my hands on some other drugs that are probably safer.
I've done it five times in the last three months and now I intend to quit. But it's up to you how often you do it and whether you want to keep doing it. One month (or two weeks) minimum in between trips is commonly cited on the internet as recommended, but really this isn't based on any kind of science--it's just advice that seems sensible. Your mind is what's hardest hit, so as long as you still feel relatively normal, you should be alright. I still feel some lingering effects on my mind, but they are very minimal. The reason your binge may have had a stronger effect is because it's theorized that the adverse effect on the brain is more a function of the duration of the trip rather than the intensity of it. This is why in the DXM FAQ on Erowid it's noted that a Delsym trip may be more neurotoxic than a regular one.
this is why i am worried, because i have used delsym 3 times already, plus that binge. so that seems like quite a lot of damage to me
I've done Delsym 7 times, in doses of 540 - 700mgs. I know, no INSANE trips, although I did get one crazy good trip on 700mgs, and I think i'm OK. The last trip kinda messed up my inter-personal skills. I have a harder time finding words, but it's not bad. My advice is to do it farther apart. Think about how long you want to do this - if you plan on continuing to trip for another 3 years, then wait months inbetween trips, yknow? I have tripped twice in the last few weeks, and that was too much for me. So keep it spaced out, for your safety and sanity. And of course the more you spread it out the lower your tolerance gets
