Google has it's fingers in everything. I do use their search engine, but I do not have any account with any part of their empire. I maintain a private email account, have my own hosting and shy away from anything google or Yahoo. As far as a search engine, it's difficult to get anything that isn't connected to google. If you're looking for something to really be concerned about, try the new network they're designing that will allow everybody to connect their computer and share and store their personal files. .
I modified my hosts file and blocked Google from my computer. Instead, I use ixquick.com It's not attached to google or yahoo or bing. Instead it produces its own results that are more or less just as good as the big three. But more importantly, they do NOT store or log any data on those using it.
I tried ixquick and it seems a bit slow, but I'll see how it works. I did notice that I didn't get prompted for cookies and no warning bells went off. Something that may or may not be a good thing, they filter the results down to 3 or 4 short pages. If this usually brings the most relevant to my searches that could be a big plus. Something new to play with, thanks for the link. .
I don't remember what they're calling it, but I'm sure whatever name you wish to search they'll bring back 6,000,000 results that will take all night to get through. .
It's slow because they don't have the server power that google has. It's a bit of an adaptation. Google is created for the most basic idiot. (not tying to be rude) By idiot I mean someone that really can't think of more than 1 or 2 terms and isn't searching for anything really important. Whereas search engines like IXQuiick require a little bit of thought on the part of the person doing the search. But otherwise, its results are just as good. Plus I've noted that often returns results that are a bit off the beaten path. Things that are just as good but google's ranking system tends to ignore.
EH i find this to be faulty and a just a little bit paranoid maybe you should get your head checked out man
And perhaps you should pull yours out of your ass. Take a look around you and examine the last 10 years of your nation's history. Americans have been lied to.. exploited... and manipulated. Plus, the United States has given the world Neo-conservatism. Which is nothing more than neo-facism or as I like to say... Neo-nazis that wear cowboy boots and ties instead of Doc Martins and black jackets. Now ask yourself this, with all the processing power of Google, do you really believe that your goverment would allow it to go un-exploited (or more aptly stated, un-corrupted)
you can throw all this bullshit at me and i could care less about your paranoid thoughts and opinions. at the end of the day it is nothing but hot air and you sadly misinterpret what really is fact but i respect your opinions and idea's
http://search.aol.com/aol/search?s_...h&q=where+to+purchase+weapons+grade+plutonium.. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...s+grade+plutonium&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= google sucks.. least aol has some offers..
I'm not doing anything wrong or that I'm ashamed of and I'm certainly not paranoid. But, I am not happy with the information of mine that is collected and stored. I was chatting with a friend on Google's IM a few years ago and she had her g-mail open at the same time and was getting ads placed on her email pages that were related to what we were talking about. This happened several times, not a coincidence. I now use my own chat room when I have the need for one and erase the data file when I'm done. My private conversations are no one's business but my own, as are my private email addresses that Facebook took from a friend's address book. It took 2 months and the threat of a lawsuit and criminal charges to get them to stop sending invitations to join. I don't think that most people realize how much of information is collected by government and business, and with the new rules on terrorism, information held by businesses is easily obtained by government. Identity theft is another concern of so much information floating around since hacking it seems to be so easy. No, I'm not paranoid, just a bit pissed. .
I agree...Google and Facebook....bleh. I do use Google to search sometimes though. But I will not join Facebook. I would guess that 90% of my friends are on Facebook, and think I am weird for NOT joining. I hate all the gps crap too...I do not need that in my vehicle...sheesh just learn how to read a map. That shit is not for us to find our way around...it is for people to find us. I wonder how many generations will pass before we have micro-chips implanted at birth.
There is an anglophone saying that goes like this. "It is all fun and games until someone losses an eye." But that's how all this information gathering works. Right now it may actually be harmless. But all it will take is just one asshole president or general or NSA agent or who knows what. And then suddenly you/we find ourselfs in serious shit. Like no freedoms, being tortured, etc. So in conclusion. I'm not a criminal and I'm not doing anything against anyone. What I am is a humanbeing. Like everyone else on this planet I regularly shit. So when I close the bathroom door it is NOT because I'm trying to hide anything. I just believe that my stink is my personal business and I don't want to share it with others. And if someone tries to follow me in there.... Let's just say I'm likely to get pissy.
