Just curious to see if their are any pescetarians out there and/or what your thoughts on that were. I'm lactose intolerant and hypoglycemic and want to cut out meat (for a number of reasons, but that's a different post!). However, I need a good and stable source of protein, and seafood would be the easiest for me. I live on the ocean, so I know that our seafood is local and ethically treated. This makes me feel better about consuming seafood. Anyone else with the same diet?
that said, ethical local is the only way to go, but look at the water quality and look into fishery practices. Steady protein here in the West is soy analogues, bean, lentil and such. Now, I've said the pesca not= veg, so could folks get the best helpful responses they have, please?
I say go for it. But some nights, eat some beans instead of a fish, or something. Seafood is low in calories and fat, but like drumminmama said, check the quality of the water. occasisionally I do eat shellfish, but I'm always not so confident with it because I don't know what's gone into it. fish may live in the ocean, but factories liek to dump things into the ocean.
we have a ton of free range fish markets in the area as well, which I've been supporting. I guess I need to find some yummy bean recipes
I'm lactose inolerant and I was also pescatrian for around 6 years. I made the switch to ovo-veggie, then vegan, now ovo-veggie again after that and haven't looked back, but being pescatarian was easy. As the others have said above it's best to get your fish locally and from sources you can trace
I'm a pescetarian and have been for oh...8 or 9 years now. I try to get local and sustainable fish as much as possible and it works for me. I do switch on and off, it's now like I'm eating seafood everyday, but probably once or twice a week, while getting most of my protien from legumes, tofu and such.
