Famous people have to come from somewhere. Which well-known celebrities/historical icons come from your town?

My hometown has been the birthplace to basically nobody famous. I've tried and failed to find anything interesting about the people from here. However, the sculptor Henry Moore came from neaby Castleford. Barbara Hepworth was also born in Wakefield.

Patrick Stewart came from Mirfield. My friend used to live there...believe me, I'm not surprised old Pat got out of there fast as he could.

Mark Knopfler was born further north, but lived and worked in Leeds for a while.

And if we're talking about famous people who weren't born but at some point lived/worked in a town, then my hometown does have a claim to fame...Harold Shipman started his medical career at the A&E. :/

A lot of people have come from Pittsburgh or the surrounding areas.

I like to rep Mr. Rogers the most -- but Bobby Vinton's a fun one too.
