I had borderline ovarian cancer, and my children will be born most likely in a hospital because of associated potential risks. And that is no one's business but mine.
This is really negative energy being spread, man. Everyone has a right to their own beliefs and expression of such, yourself included. Nobody deserves to be told that their whole perspective is stupid. I think we should really get on with the discussion now, without the insults.
of course this your choice...and to be honest....if I had problems like yours, I wouldnt be far from technology either. I still wouldnt use the drugs though.
Very well, please don't let religious terminology dictate your phrasing! There are so many good options to describe important, natural processes. I feel like the sincerity and honesty of such propositions are severely diminished when people resort to talk of "god". When people publically express a belief in an imaginary being that can condemn me to hell, I have a right to call it stupid. Beliefs don't deserve to be respected if they have zero evidence to back them up. I evaluate reasons for beliefs, I don't respect them just because they're there. If someone expressed a terribly harmful economic or political position, it would be entirely reasonable for me to criticize it. Religion is the only area where people are allowed to play the hurt feelings card and it causes real damage to society. It's now clear that Starbuck wasn't really referring to god so all's well, just knock of the god talk pleeease. You're encouraging the spread of dogma which can all too often lead to extremist proliferation. I agree that generally more natural = more better, but I will definitely be having every preventative measure taken to ensure my children are born healthy. I agree drugs are pushed on people too quickly and too strenuously, but western medicine should be embraced for the most part if you want your kids to be as healthy as possible. The most "natural" way is for a large percentage of babies to die because they weren't quite fit enough to make it without outside help. Nature thinks this is great because it's weeding out all the people with weak genes. Jooknow?
My Lady had both our kids by Cesarean. And they are both (mostly) formula fed. And every time I hear someone say that she is somehow less of a woman for this, I have to resist the urge to contact one of my bull dyke bitch acquaintances who will beat the detractor half to death for a half gallon of cheap vodka.
It's not always the vindictive Christian god that people are referring to. I'm a Wiccan and I may refer to a God/dess but that's certainly not presuming any kind of being that would condemn you to hell. Please work through your own animosity before you spew it at other people. And yes, people DO have the right to request that their beliefs be respected. We're not asking that you agree with us, we're just asking that you not be so arrogant as to presume that you're 100% right and everyone else is just stupid and they just need to be told how stupid they are and they'll realize that you're right and thank you for showing them the truth.
I go through aggressive phases in terms of calling people out, sometimes I just sit back and let people say dumb shit.. If you're not pushing ancient religious texts that still purport bronze age systems of morality, I don't really have a beef with you. Those books are still having a profound impact though. You can't get elected to public office in the U.S. without professing a silly belief, and it's stifling important scientific research with respect to things like stem cells. Not to mention their effect on terrorism, which is almost completely monopolized by people following the Koran to the letter. I don't think I'm arrogant to presume I'm right, and I'm not 100% on it either. I'd put my confidence level around 99.99999999999999999999% I think it's your job to explain why you believe in something supernatural and how you came to know this truth when we both have access to all the same sources. Makes you look a little arrogant, you must be superior to me in some way to find the ultimate truth when I couldn't. It's my job to dispute your claims if I think people are being exposed to irrationality by your public espousals. If your beliefs make you happy, that's fine. Hold on to them tight and keep them inside and live in bliss, indoctrinate your kids if you must (they'll never have a chance ). If you feel the need to recruit other people though, you're probably doing harm to society in some way by spreading false ideas and I'm most likely gonna step in. Not trying to hijack the thread, sorry for rambling.

what really gets me....is women that schedule c-sections. I just cant stand it when people do things that are soooo unnatural. I get this urge to change their mind. but its none of my business what others do. I think it just disappoints me.
that, my friend, is not a flaw of nature. That is population control. As for natural births, I'm all for it. But I dont think you can judge another woman's situation.
On the question of nature being best, I think that any man or woman would think that live birth is better than the other option. I'm a bit affronted by someone who will in one sentence oppose modern medicine on the basis that dead babies is part of natures population control and in the next sentence claim that one can't judge another's situation.
