Who says we don't know the evils of wal-mart, we shop there for why everyone else does, we're poor, we don't want to give up our lifestyles, so we buy the cheapest things possible.
I will boycott Walmart, but i work at a competitor so I will be without a source of income if I did this.
thats weak man... all just to save some pennies huh? That seems to me to be one of the biggest problems with people in general, such an inability to sacrifice for the good of all. You know being poor is actually one of the best reasons not to shop at walmart, because corporations like them contribute to the type of economy we live in today. I'd rather get half a loaf of good healthy bread than a full loaf of preservative laden 99 cent bread. I'd rather buy expensive organic clothes that will last than cheap fabrics. I just don't understand the logic behind knowing something is wrong but supporting it simply because its easier to do so. If you ask me you must not know the evils of walmart, because if you really did know & gave it some serious thought & still support them you must not have a conscience. Its time that Americans start looking at the living conditions of other nations with famine & genocide.. If everyone here gave up just a small amount of their resources it would make a huge difference worldwide & most Americans could use an inch or two off their belts anyway. We don't have to accept this world the way it was when we arrived. For me facing the fact that the United States citizens got the good end of the deal in life compared with most nations & realizing my life is not all that hard made it pretty easy for me to sacrifice things that otherwise were everyday parts of my life.
Yeah haven't you seen that south park episode about walmart it pretty much sums it up. But yeah walmart is pretty sweet. Don't worry about me shopping there tho, I have no idea where one is.
that's the best about really cool areas. Like downtowns of big cities and shit. You could get lost in the variety of stores.. fuck a walmart.

why can we not PM one another when we have questions like this.. hey ya'll last I checked walmart actually had a subpar year sales wise.. The first time since they've been an empire that they haven't had record profits or something like that... maybe my boycott isn't all for nothing after all... I guess others are making the decision as well

I shop there because its cheap and they're open 24/7. They have everything I need all in one place. Mom and pop stores are horribly overpriced. Not shopping there doesn't make a difference compared to the millions that do shop there. I'm not rich enough to shop elsewhere to "make a point".
that's nice. enjoy living shitty. Whether or not you personally choose not to shop at Walmart makes little difference with all the millions who do. The purpose of life is to be happy. enjoy life, you only have one.

It's about the power of one person. For every one person that boycotts or is vegan something changes. Because 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1 = some larger number that I don't wish to calculate. Point is, the more people the greater the change. and +1 IS more people.
If you think shopping at wallyworld is going to make yours or anyone elses (besides shareholders) life better than more power to you. Personally I live just fine, probably better than most in fact, and saving 50 or 100 bucks a year to me just is not worth it. I feel better trying to support local stores just as I will go to a locally owned restaurants as opposed to chains, I find that choosing quality over quantity works better for me. And to the millions that do shop there, more power to you, I am not judging anyone I only know what works for me.
I'm sorry but do you work for wal mart corp. It is just this kind of selfish mentality that is causing global destructions & the people causing it are always finding new ways to justify their actions... Anyway saving a little bit of your money when you live in a place thats standard of living is higher than most of the world is not a good enough reason to support something thats as destructive as walmart...
My grandmother lives in Meridian, MS. The downtown area is quite empty. But there are two walmarts. One in each direction just outside of town. It's pretty sad. Where I live, in Miami, it's a long way to a Wal-Mart. I always try to buy stuff at a local store rather than a huge national chain store, anyways. I try to go to the local hardware store rather than Home Depot. There is a local store, called Milam's where I grocery shop. Sometimes you got to go to the national chains though. I buy my clothes at Marshall's or Ross. I buy my electronics at Best Buy. But I try to always buy local, not just stay away from Wal-Mart. Same with products, I try to always buy American, but sometimes that's hard also. Anyways, whatever harm Wal-Mart is doing, I think it is better to be mistreated by a company, than to be mistreated by a government. Our president has done much more damage than Wal-Mart.
