I think everyone would benefit more if instead of school, between grade 9 and grade 11-12 kids did community work; clean up parks, beside the highway, graffiti on buildings. It'd be more beneficial and would make them respect their environment and understand that it's everyones. It would make them feel like they should take initiative. Beside, once you go to university or college you have to learn most things over again anyways. They teach you refresher material.
A lot of parents in the city don't say a word to them, just let them carry on screaming and shouting. I'm really not a kid person.
In order to graduate they do have to have community volunteer hours logged, 40 within the four years. Most of the teens I know, had more than that after a year so they are getting kids involved in doing good for the communities they are from. High school is meant to be a base for learning and University or College is the expansion of the material and application. Without the base it is rather difficult to expand on a concept.
I have to pick my guys up in a half hour. They were excited to go back, so when I got up this morning, they were already dressed and fed. It's been a nice, quiet day for me.
Here as well, seems a little too quiet! I also did not have to keep cleaning the kitchen, I guess I need to get back into my school routine, just like them.
The baby will start junior kindergarten in 2014. Unfortuntely just in time for government-forced all-day kindergarten. Thank you Stephen Harper. Our school so far still has half-day programs.
Oh, THAT....lol. December 17 is my due date. So basically somebody else has to cook Christmas dinner. :eggnog:
I dreaded going to school every morning. I hate getting up early. So many teacher's on power trips. ew. This is one thing I envied you guys for. no chance of snow here ever.
For me it would mean waking up to kids puking in your lawn and throwing beer bottles.. Randoml stranger walking into your house not knowing where the hell they are going.....Love college towns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully it won't hand me a Christmas list when it comes out... Do you see ghosts who try to make you change your ways? I live in a college/university town, too...and it's frosh week, when all the 1st year engineering students dye themselves purple and glue their hair into mowhawks...I always keep my doors locked anyway. So I understand what you're saying.
