    Hi all,

So I found a sweet new apartment. Everything was going well until the landlord introduced us to the upstairs neighbor who was still in uniform from getting off work...a blue uniform with a thunderstick.

I've never had a problem smoking in an apartment. We are low key, responsible, good neighbors and our neighbors were probably pot smokers as well. This would be the first time I'd have someone who'd narc my ass if he could.

So, whaddya think? Can you smoke in an apartment on a daily basis with a LEO upstairs and not get hosed? Should I just forget the whole idea?

Some cops smoke, others are concerned with more important things; you don't mention your impression of him at all..

I wouldn't chance it. I'm a little 'noid to smoke in my new apartment that's like 3 blocks away from the police station lol It's a small building right on a main street that cops constantly stalk (because they have nothing better to do), crammed with 6 units and another tight 6-unit building right next door with the same landlord. I already know my landlord is a dick and don't want to chance any of the other tennants bitching to him about the smell or calling the cops. For all I know a cop could be living in my building or the one next door but everyone keeps to themselves and I haven't met any of the neighbors. If I opened the window to smoke, I'm sure I'd have a narc banging on my door in 5 minutes. If I don't open the window to smoke, my straight edge boyfriend will bitch about the smell. Luckily, I have 10ft ceilings so I don't have to worry too much about the smell wafting to the upstairs tennants, but the only time I feel it's relatively "safe" to smoke is at like 3am and even still, I use a one hitter, blow into a towel and spray Febreeze.

To cut down on paranoia, I usually just make cannabutter for cookies and other edibles - it's easy to camouflage the smell of cooking weed by sauteeing garlic or some other pungent food. If I had the funds, I'd have bought a vaporizer long ago and wouldn't have this problem at all.

    Hmmm...things to think about.

The PO seemed like a mid-20's, clean cut, all american boy. Is this good or bad?

Also, when I was in apartments last, they all had outside walkways because it was a warm climate. Now, everything comes through a hallway. Does the smell permeate these?

I'm surprised you're worried in Cali...How does he know you don't have a 214 card? Can a cop knock on your door and demand to see your 214 card because he says he smells pot?

If you aren't having loud disruptive parties or have people coming and going all hours day and night, I wouldn't worry about it. I doubt you smoke to the point of sending up clouds.
Plus unless he suspects dealing, it would amount to a waste of his time to hassle you.
Like every one else, he may want to keep work away from home.

As far as his being young and clean cut looking, I would feel more comfortable with an older cop than a younger one that may feel he has something to prove.
But unfortuanatly no real way of knowing. Just don't store pounds in your place or act like your dealing and I doubt you will ever have an issue.
Cops don't go to the trouble for a search warrant to hand out a $100 ticket.

My neighbor has a cop living directly behind him and they smoke out back all the time, even talk to each other over the fence. In 10 years he has never had a problem.

The apartment I lived in all summer was on the same street as one of the cop shops but that didn't stop us. We moved yayo out of it all summer and our lights were on all night, and people were in and out most of the night. Halfway through july we started noticing cruisers sitting in the parking lot across the street in the earlier hours of the morning (3-6AM) but we kept doing our thing. They definitely knew something was up but had no evidence to back whatever they thought. Cops around here are pretty useless for everything but giving out traffic tickets and other petty misdemeanors like giving out drinking in public and pissing in public tickets to students at bar hour.

if you maintain being a nice neighbor, chances are he'll respect you back. just smoke inside and if you ever do hear a knock while you're tokin' down, DONT answer the door. just simply don't open it. if you need to, talk to the cop through a closed window or something, saying you dont talk to police when you're at home (that's if he's uniformed). otherwise, just say something like you're naked and cant open the door.

take some precautionary steps to hide the smell, then just don't dont worry.
