Although hard to tell by this photo, these flying saucers have a brownish color to them, whereas heavenly blues i have always seen to be black. as far as potency goes, the general idea is that heavenly blues are the strongest, whil flying saucers is a weaker variety, and so is pearly gates. Though occasionaly ive read trip reports where the user has experimented with both heavnly blue and pearly gates but find subtle differences between the two, something like pearly gates gave a stronger body buzz, heavenly blues had a stronger psychic effect. and then i once read a single post on some forums where the user claimed flyingsaucers to be the strongest. still i have always been curious on this potency issue, because it makes me wonder which variety carries the most genes from the gene pool of the shaman's morning glory variety. Ipomea violacea is the badoh negro of Zapotec curanderos and it is tlitliltzin of the Aztecs, a sacred divinatroy hallucinogen I think i have read that the dosage they are using is 60-125 seeds. and i think trip reports with modern varieties that use that same dose are generally mild, too mild i would imagine to hear and see things from the influence of the plant and then heal, which is what most hallucinogenic plants are used for in traditional context.
ive grown my own morning glories and hand picked the seeds, it was very rewarding, i have used pearly gates , heavenly blues ,flying saucers, and another which i cant think of at the moment, all with pleasant trips aside from the usual first hour of nausea. isnt it weird how the names sound like cid hits. some of mine were brown when picked but then driend out to a blacker color. the dose ive found to be best is 7grm to 9grm of seeds, my best trips have been with glories and ive tried many things, im not saying every trip was great because sometimes the nausea and muscle cramps can dampen effects, ive found that a drahmamine an hour beforehand helps and pepto during, also to help digest powdered seeds i mix with applesauce or pudding.
a couple of questions. firstly it seems like everywhere around here the seeds are chemically treated. if i grow the flowers can i get new seeds to replant and will they be chemical-free? also, where does one go about getting drahmamine and what exactly is it?
if you grow it, they will flower and make seeds, and no, chemicals coated on seeds will not be passed on to the next generations of seeds by the plant. dramamine is an OTC to prevent symptoms of motion sickness. ive taken it for airplane flights... they make you drowsy however. btw dont eat the seeds. the seeds themselves are naturally toxic and you may be sensitive to its toxicity. , some people arent, some people get a sharp burning pain in stomach. some people get nousea and puke. Indian shamans who use the seeds dont even eat the seeds. just do it their way, grind seeds to a flour and make tea in COLD water. throw away seed mush and drink the tea.
Optical, thankyou for the recipe. I will remember it. How much seeds would you need for a group of 4??? Just strain the mush and drink? Peace
As long as you keep the plants you grow organic, the seeds will be pesticide free and free from added emetics. (Of course MG has it's own emetic, but that is due to the seeds themselves.) A word of warning, even seeds which say "untreated" still may have emetic (a drug which causes you to puke) coated on it. These emetics do NOT have to be listed on the package, and are requred by law in seeds sold in the USA. "Untreated" on a package bought in the USA simply means fungicides or pesticides were not used on the seeds. Morning Glories are about the last plant to flower in my garden, it doesn't even start flowering until September, for the most part. I have never used the seeds as a drug, but the flower is one of my favorites. I set my seeds to soak last spring (you have to soak them overnight, preferable in cool tea, or warm water, or they won't germinate) and then broke my arm, and the damn things fermented, so I got them planted too late, and had few flowers and only a few Heavenly Blues. Let the seeds totally mature in the pods before either using them to plant or any other purpose. This can take several days to several weeks after the flower is gone. Some people even wait until winter to harvest the seeds. Yes, it is labor and time intensive.
cosmic, remember that tap water will have stuff that perturbs the chemical structure of sensitive molecules like lsa. dosage varies with method of preparation. the strong psychedelic effects of eating about 300 seeds is ,from reports ive heard an read, about equivilent to a cold tea of about 500 seeds. becareful to avoid unpleasent experiences just like you would with shrooms or whatever, ie set/setting. you can save yourself the trouble of straining by putting the seed flour in emptied teabags, dont overpack them, they expand when wet. just steep them in a pitcher of chilled distilled water and leave it in the fridge for like half n hour.. you can make it stronger by re steeping the bags in some fresh water for another 30 minutes and mixing the two teas...calculate the volume of water used so that each dose is about a cup of water. remember! coldness will keep the nasties from dissolving into the water.. they stay in the bags.
