You'd be suprized Winter is a great time for Texas surf. Strong onshore winds kick it up near head high (6ft) as northern frontal boundries approach, then bam the front hits kicking the winds offshore. Its gets pretty epic in winter actually. there was small ridable surf today even www.g-townsurf.com
