how long can bud last?

OK, to make a long story short, so I was thinking of buying a lot of weed and saving it so it will last, because I can get a good deal on some good stuff, so how long do you think bud will stay good for? And can you give me some suggestions on how to keep it longer? right now I usually just keep it in film containers....

 

i heard something about a freezer on here. search thrut he older threads for sumthing about a freezer and u should find it.

 

I would say you can easily keep it for 3-6 months. It will dry out, but it shouldn't lose a lot of potency. The best thing for storing it is an airtight jar in a cool dark place.

I've heard freezing help, but I'm not sure.

Air tight jar. It will get harsher. I don't think the potency really decreases but that last nug you smoke is going to tear your lungs apart and you will cough like hell.
I've heard myths about the freezer, but I've never heard any first-hand reliable reports about it, I would think it would work fine as long as there isn't too much moisture in the weed.

 

on a side note...ive heard that if you put weed in the freezer it makes all the crystles come out to the surface and it makes it better for vaporizors

 

Like pretty much everyone else said, it'll last for a long ass time, it'll just get really dry. I've stored weed for up to a year in a mason jar, unrefrigerated. It was fine afterwards.

 

cooling any chemical will slow the deterioration. this is why we refridgerate batteries.. so the chemicals do not react. THC breaks down at a relativly low temperature (though not as low as some other chemicals). Putting it in the freezer will prolong the potency, thought freezing it is not a must... just...the cooler it stays, the longer it will keep

 

I've been smoking the same half bag for over a year....just sittin in my dresser drawer in a baggie, still good.

 

my friends dad keeps 5 ounces in a freezer tupperware, and then throws that biotch in the freezer. ive smoked some of that shit after its been in there for 2 months and it was pretty fine!
