I really hope you don't believe that. People with self-esteem don't need such compliments. I don't even think I know any girls who would consider such a comment to be complimentary... more creepy than anything. But I guess it's possible that I just don't understand the sophisticated intricacies of American culture. I guess facebook is a way to talk to people and I admit I use it to show pictures/write-ups of my travels to my mom so she won't bombard me with questions when I get home... but seriously, I draw the line at someone I used to know but will never know again assaulting me with updates involving only the banalities of her day, or pictures of getting wasted in a bar or something... Seriously, if someone isn't important enough to be in your immediate physical reality, WHY would you want to dedicate any amount of time to them-- especially when they insist on communicating in short, insignificant clips as opposed to well-thought out, articulate ideas??? To tell the truth, I wouldn't have such an issue with it if I didn't suspect that it was all another part of the reality show movement where everyone thinks they should be a star-- because that's sort of what I tend to see in these pictures...
I like how I look and I will miss it when I'm old. Just preserving it for posterity, I suppose. Plus, I'm an amateur model for a photographer that is trying to build her portfolio (she took the pic in my sig), so not minding strangers looking at me kind of comes with the territory.
I don't have any pics of me ANYWHERE except my fam's PRIVATE Facebook albums. My mother won't let me use pictures of myself on Facebook or on HipForums; she says that child pornographers could put my face on someone else's body. I acually think she's right, and even if she let me use pics, I was never really comfortable. Once I'm not, like, you know, a teenager, I'll use pictures, but for right now i like my little hippie chick signature
I take pictures for fun. also i usually get my hair cut in the summer and i'm away from all my freinds so they want pictures. when i make a face in a picture, its because i like making faces. i take pictures when i've done something cool with my makeup or hair. I don't take pictures to put up to get compliments. i do make faces in pictures cause i'm not totally comfortable with the way my smile translates to pictures. i also sometimes do the "posed pictures" but they are always poking fun. =) i think pictures are great and you should put up as many pictures you want of yourself. and if someone doesn't want to look at them...then they just shouldn't.
I have a picture up im just making my normal face.. I hate when they do those peace sign poses shit. ITS SO FAKE.
I cant post pics..Im so handsome that it causes stalking problems and Im getting tired of the marriage proposals and ladies who send me cooch pictures.
Putting up pics of yourself in this forum is OK to an extent, as long as anonymity is maintained. What I don't understand is kids who post pics of themselves in sexual situations, taking drugs, or just plain acting the fool with no concern for remaining anonymous. Don't you kids realize that the internet and social networking sites have become another screening tool used by employers and colleges today? I have seen first hand prospective employment candidates get passed over because of what they have posted online. I have removed a couple of pics from here and edited some posts when I realized they pointed right back to who I was and my wife. Not because I give a shit what others think of me, but because my wife works with kids and is very active in Girl Scouts and MY antics could have a negative backlash on her. So use your friggin head when posting pics of yourself online. Guaranteed if you apply for any decent job that has any type of HR department, they will do a search for you online, guaranteed.
wow, someone needs to pull that stick out of his ass. we were all obviously just kidding around with each other. lighten up, dude.
we could argue berating people on the internet is in itself showing signs of a perhaps unnoticed self-esteem issue?
i am young yet have 0 photos of myself online. i only keep three pictures of myself, in a private album on my computer.
dude, exactly. i don't get why people post literally like 12 photos of themselves IN THE SAME POSITION, with the same face? like they cant delete some of those?
honestly, three. including myself. we're all on MYSPACE, not facebook, though. we just post pix of nature or someone we admire, instead of posting our real photos at all.
