Hey all! I live in weirton, a stones throw away from the trail entrance, I have heard that the trail goes all the way to Washington D.C. with free camping in spots, anyone ever done this, or have any info on it? Was wanting to bike the whole thing this coming summer, possibly hike it?

The montor trail does not connect to the allegherny trail . Its missing a section between Coraopolis Pa and Pittsburgh Pa. you will need to ride paved Road From the Allegheny county jail to 51north for about 4 to 6 miles..

    welcome to Hip Forum @Boondock.

If you're going for the Allegheny Trail, too, I'd recommend getting off the trail at the Coraopolis trailhead (near Robinson). Hitch or catch a bus downtown, then pick up the Allegheny Trail near Uptown (where the jail is). The area bordering the Ohio River (from Cory to downtown) is full of the worst areas north/west of the city. The Allegheny Trail pretty much hits every single bad area in the county. Robinson onward isn't bad at all on the Montour trail. There's some neat places down by the PA/MD border when the towns get real small.

I haven't done too much on the Pandhandle though. From what I've seen, it looks pretty nice. I'm right near the Walker's Mill trailhead, so say Hi if you do it!
