I've recently noticed that a couple tattoos (at least 1 year old each) covering my shoulder and chest are raised (like you'd expect after initial application) and randomly itch. I've woken up a couple times raking my fingernails against them in my sleep. What??

Is this something I should be concerned about? Anyone else experience this?

I get this about once or twice a year. I have a tattoo on my left wrist and the whole tattoo itself doesn't raise, but about once or twice a year I get like a raised bump under the tattoo that sort of looks like a mosquito bite and can be itchy. Remember, tattoos are ink that is permanently dyed and stuck in your pores, it's a foreign substance and can sometimes disagree with other substances.

Sweat doesn't travel through a pore that has been clogged with ink. It can't. There have been cases (so I've read) of people who are absolutely covered in tattoos having liver problems later in life because their body has not been able to properly eliminate toxins through the pores.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm getting-- and it actually just stopped today. I guess as this was my first ink that makes sense (this would likely be the first time it happens). Thanks, lunarverse!
