True but I’m also aware that the vast majority don’t have a medical excuse and abuse food like a crackhead with a $100 dollar-a-day habit

The powers that be create fat people, I know that most will quickly say that's a "conspiracy theory", but consider this.......

High Fructose Corn Syrup AKA HFCS is the biggest culprit in making people fat.

MSG is also a real bad puppy.

If people stopped eating shit and prepared their own food there would not be so many fat people.

This is not know by many people but the kind of silicone that is used to seal a shower door is in Chicken McNuggets.

It won't take long for anyone here to verify these facts on google.

Just google High Fructose Corn Syrup + diabetes

    MSG + diabetes

    Mcnuggets + silicone

Stop complying and eating prepared food designed to kill you.

    Peace

There have been some really good points made on this thread and there are two questions I would like to ask.

Who, if we went to selective treatments by health care providers, would the panel consist of that makes the decision on who we do or do not treat?

If you were seeking treatment for what others felt was a health issue that was self induced, who would you trust, to make the call on you not being eligible for treatment?

Perhaps the mega corporations that peddle their chemicals as food ought to kick in some of their profits toward helping manage what their poisons cause. Granted, I very strongly believe that it is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that the food he/she is shoving in the pie hole is not harmful. Perhaps having to sign a waiver as a condition of purchasing some manufactured "foods" might get people to stop and take a look at what's actually IN them.

If a woman can successfully sue McDonald's because of burns from coffee that is generally understood to be hot, couldn't the Corn Growers of America be brought to court via class action as they strive to misinform about the shit they sell.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEbRxTOyGf0"]You know what they say...

A big part of the problem is the collective thinking (for lack of a better term) that goes on about business in general. Ask anyone why a grocery store, farm, food processing/packaging plant, and any other entity within the food distribution network exists and I wager the response would be along the lines of "to feed us". Wrong- every business is there to make as much money as possible.

We are not brought up to be intelligent skeptics- we are raised to be unquestioning consumers who tend to take for granted the stream of sustenance without taking a look at what its delivery is composed of... and why certain non-food ingredients are present. The thing is- that the best chance of getting the food industry to self regulate (forget government intervention, they are solidly on the side of the corporations), is to vote with your wallet. If adulterated foods weren't so profitable we wouldn't be seeing so much being sold and very likely wouldn't be dealing with the variety of health crises at the forefront.

It shouldn't be the collective responsibility of the population to deal with the consequences of an individual's excesses- though not every obese person is a victim of their own choices- I'd wager most are. It is the obscenely profitable manufacturers of the slow poisons who should subsidize things like insulin and chemotherapy- which are health care elements that have enjoyed quite the boom because of what folks choose to ingest.... so an obese person wants treatment for their condition? First, ensure that there's no genetic cause (or other cause that could not have been helped) then fully ensure those at that point not because of their own choices and make the rest pay for their own treatments and therapies.

It's time people stopped expecting other people or the government make everything right when they have no one to blame but themselves- even if that is because they chose not to question what they are being told by an "information" source whose objective is to increase business.

I will totally agree that people need to start to take responsibility for what they ingest and how they choose to live, I stop short at being on board with making a judgment on what another human being is entitled to with regards to medical treatment.

Why rule out genetics. If there are genetic factors and the person who had those now adults knew it, should they then shoulder the financial costs. If the fetus that was conceived to people knowing there was a risk develops any medical condition, should we as a society then loose perhaps the last of what makes us humane and further point fingers.

Why rule out personal choices then. From the people who conceive with high risks to those who lead life styles with high risk.

There are very few medical conditions which are not genetic. Where do we draw the line. Who draws that line?

If we rail against the machine that is what we perceive to be to blame for health issues it is a very fine line of personal judgment. I am not comfortable using my judgment of what would be just and I am even less comfortable accepting another persons. We all have bias when it comes to our own judgments about how others should or should not live.

That would not be a society that is one that would be better. Not one that has any compassion and seeks to do no additional harm and instead help or support.

I hope with all honesty that I see no further decline than I already have in my life of compassion for fellow people.

Judgment calls on who is deserving of equal treatments may just be enough to finally tip the scales into oblivion.

If there is a standard medical treatment for any condition it should be available across the board to anyone who needs it.

Or what or who have we all become?

I am not jealous of sick people. Health care is meant to be there when you need it, and I'm pretty glad to rarely use it.

I doubt other than diabetes, which runs in my family and does not discriminate based on weight, that obese people run to the doctor more than anyone else.

I worked with a woman who had her daughter down to the ER every other week if she so much as sneezed. Hypochondriacs are much more of a drain on resources, IMO.
