Greetings friends, I love many types of metal, but I find I'm intrigued by an enchanted female voice... Some of my favorites are Warlock and Doro, Ignitor-demonslayer for the regular stuff, and for the power metal Nightwish, Leaves Eyes, Within Temptation, After Forever, Epica, Tristania(male with female opera)... and many more. What do you like?
Well it depends on the voice... they must be something special for me to like them. I enjoy other types of music beside's metal, and have heard many beautiful voices, so I agree partly with ya, most of them sound like a cat being tortured in front of a microphone. BTW, thanks for the post on Iced Earth, it made my day.
Amesoeurs? Only they only have four songs yet, and only two (also) have female vocals. The upcoming material isn't even going to be metal anymore, just like the last song wasn't. So they hardly count. I vaguely like some of them gothic bands like Within Temptation but rarely actually listen to them. And I can't stand Nightwish. "We spent 500 000 dollars on the recording of our new album" - wtf?? I hate rich people.
I wanna mention Doro of Warlock, but I don't really have a favourite. I really don't like most gothic metal, but early Theatre of Tragedy had a song that really had something, thought it was the first track of Velvet darkness they fear. Of course a good voice isn't everything (like with most gothic metalbands), you have to dig the music. Two metal albums with female vocals I really like are Mad grandiose bloodfiends of Ancient (despite the fact the bass can't be heard very well) and Cantara Anachoreta of Antichrisis, their debut and only album that can be called metal.
Lucuna Coil (Only because the vocalist is damn sexy). Other then that I reckon most bands with female vocalists are pretty crap.
Well, everyone has there preference to music as to what they deem good or not, but always remember... Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it isn't any good. Show some respect people Peace
Anyone who says metal bands with female vocalists suck hasn't heard anything by Arch Enemy. Angela Gossow is amazing. Nightwish (when Tarja was with the band) and Angtoria are also good.
You should check out Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy if you havn't already. Easily the best female vocalist in metal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4sk8Eyy-ns
yeah, beside's a good voice, the music should be something great as well. I prefer bands with awesome leads and solo's... I enjoy music that has lots of melody, not just another 3 minute song with just rhythm that sounds like the next band on the radio.
So, first post, and I thought I'd dig this up, granted that it's two or so years old, but fuck... I'm honestly disappointed that none of the decent female vocalists were mentioned. I saw no mention of Dana Duffey of Mythic; Mythic was an extremely underrated all female Death Metal band, not to mention they were all attractive, strong females. Mythic's 'Mourning In The Winter Solstice' album is quite the little gem. Ozma (Runhild Gammelsæter) of Thorr's Hammer was mentioned in another thread but was not named. Beautiful voice and fucking BRUTAL at that. Also... no mention of, in my opinion, Thrash's BEST female vocalist Debbie Gunn of Znowhite.
This is probably about the 10th time I've posted this around here, but what the hell? It's fucking awesome! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9BHUtdMWhk"]YouTube- INVASION - Moongazer (EP Version)
I don't really dig women in metal bands. I've been to too many gigs where a shitty band will get an awesome reception because there's some attention seeking slut on stage and the good bands get ignored. I like the female vocals in Therion and Draconian style music. Not like that idiot in Arch Enemy.
