So i'm listening to a lot of new stuff, and a lot of it sounds really preconceived to me. Like they planned each part for weeks before they played it and everything has to be down perfect. I hate that shit. Even underground stuff has turned weak and watered down, the edge of 70s punk and 60s improvised rock and prog that influenced many of my favorite bands just isn't 'there'. I just want something that sounds like it has that special spark of inspiration of real musicians, and not sounding like it was planned in an executive boardroom. Can be any type of music at all.

I have noticed this too unfortunately for us REAL music lovers...and I solemnly and UNCONDITIONALLY BLAME the INvolution that revoltingly started in the blasphemous 80s = the very dark age of music:( and the ruddy advent of DISCO music in the late 70s:(.
Regarding prog, I'm sure I will be rudely (but UNjustly) wippped for saying this, I TRULY believe that bands like Marillion & Fish have yaken prog back into oblivion and that is before the punk revolution of '77....prog evolution by Marillion MY ASS!!!

Well see, I don't see the 80s as a dark age because I love a lot of 80s metal, I love post-punk like Nick Cave and some 80s hip-hop and reggae all of those were rough and wild and carried the spirit of real music (as opposed to shiny and safe music prepared in a lab). I've always been into underground music, and ever since the 50s there has been a strict line between popular and commercial garbage to cater for the masses, and the good stuff which stays hidden to all but lovers of music. Since the last decade or so this line has vanished. Well, I guess at least jazz will always be around. And I agree that Marillion suck.

    New albums I am digging:

    National "high violet"
    Roots "how I got over"
Sparklehorse "dark night of the soul"

And the new M.I.A. is growing on me

maybe you're just getting/are jaded and bitchy. If I remember correctly you are the same person who found nothing wortwhile in house music. What are you looking for new Yes material?

You are confusing. Good, inspiring musicians do spend time working on there craft. It's like you're saying you are looking for music done by talented people so long as they don't really try.

    Defeats the purpose, sort of.

There's a difference between sounding preconceived and being so. I mean, Bach must have spent months or years on his works but they always sounded effortless. It's just my taste, it doesn't have to be yours.

I don't think ive ever listened to Bach before and thought to myself "Omg this rocks!" unless you are referring to skid row's lead singer.

    (artist first, album second)

ZILLA - All Iz (THE most unique band i have ever heard. period. instantly know its zilla with any one note on any song. and my favorite part about them is they can be listened to in ANY situation, driving in car, partying (some tunes), chilling, whatever. very universal and interesting stuff. check out zillamusik.com for more)

Skeetaz - Off (original psychadelic electronic music that if you actually give it a chance will most likely change your musical influences. Probly the best electronic album ive heard in the last 5 years....)

Landau - the Epic Compromise (think radiohead but more electronic influenced). Very easy on the ears. I would be surprised if you could find anyone who doesn't enjoy that album.

Deru - Say Goodbye To Useless - downtempo/idm/hip hop beats/electronic, but very original. this guy is a true music nerd, writes tunes for plays, commercials, ballets, and his Deru moniker is his idm project from LA.... sweet, sweet)

I could go on ALL day man. but I really think those albums could turn anyone on. Send me a PM if you really like it, and i can hook you up with more stuff.
