    No!

Yes! Just as it would be wrong for me to call myself an atheist eventhough I believe Jesus is God.

well first of all what do you mean with "darwin and all that jazz" i think you should know that he himself was a christian (or at least belived he was created by god) and also denied his own theory in the end.

and being an atheist doesn't mean believing in evolution, atheist is the denial of the existence of any form of god.

Not true. This urban legend was invented by a Catholic priest several decades after Darwin's death.

Kandahar, I would love to read the information that refutes this common claim of Darwin's recanting his theory. I always puzzled over why he would do so, and even though practically everyone believes he did, I have never been totally convinced. If you are right that it is an urban legend, then I would like to have the info. at my fingertips for the next time someone claims that he recanted.

    thanks, BG13

I just read in the Bible about 5 minutes ago, I can't remember the chapter or verse or exact wording so forgive me, but it said something along the lines of, you cannot enter the gates of heaven if you know God but deny Jesus, but you are able to if you know Jesus but do not know God.

So I would say, yes, its perfectly fine to call yourself a christian.

Josephus the Jewish historian born AD 37, mentioned Jesus in his writings:-

(3)[63] Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man; for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ. And when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him; for he appeared to them alive again the third day; as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him. And the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day

Burial box is 'proof of Jesus'
An archaeologist is claiming an inscription on a burial box is the oldest solid evidence Jesus existed.

The writing in Aramaic is on an ossuary, which was used to bury bones, dated to 63AD, just 30 years after the crucifixion.

It says: "James son of Joseph, brother of Jesus."

Andre Lemaire, a French ancient inscriptions expert who examined it, told the Biblical Archaeology Review that it's probably an authentic reference to Jesus.

No artefact relating to Jesus from the New Testament era has ever been found and verified.

Mr Lemaire says the box, which was found in Israel, corroborates the existence of Joseph, Jesus's father, and James, Jesus's brother and a leader of the early Christian church in Jerusalem.

The family relationships contained on the new find have led experts to conclude the inscription very likely refers to the Biblical James, brother of Jesus.

The Biblical Archaeology Review reports although all three names were common in ancient times, the statistical probability of them appearing in that combination is extremely slim.

Mr Lemaire says the mention of a brother is unusual, indicating that this Jesus must have been a well-known figure.

The 20-inch-long box is in a private collection in Israel. Like many ossuaries, it is empty. Its history before its current ownership is unknown.

If you want more i will give you more...just some things to think about. I'm not saying these are right or wrong...but intereseting none the less.

^^ clearly a forgery. This has been proven, sorry.

By the way, who cares what Darwin ended up believing? The point is we now have a mountain of evidence that evolution occurs. It wouldn't make any difference; just as it wouldn't matter if Einstein said "reletivity is false" because it has been proven countless times. One man's belief doesn't change what the facts tell us.
